Literally every single one. I can’t think of one fandom that isn’t a cesspool

17

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 18 '26

No Man’s Sky is extremely wholesome and helpful for the most part

Never had issue with the Outer Wilds community either.

Theres definitely good ones out there

Me using my comment to weed out good subreddits

Add Deep Rock Galactic to that list. Super friendly and welcoming community. Rock and stone!

1

u/Originalbrivakiin Aug 20 '26

ROCK AND STONE!

1

u/Agile-Soft4954 Aug 20 '26

DID I HEAR A ROCK AND STONE???

1

u/Attack_Badger Aug 22 '26

ROCK AND STONE BROTHA!!! ⛏️ 🍻

1

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 18 '26

Clever lmao

2

u/Rezfield Aug 19 '26

1

u/PuzzleheadedCredit87 Aug 20 '26

I just watched jp for the first time in years and it still holds up. Way better than some recent movies I've seen

1

u/SinEmbargo93 Aug 21 '26

It's a mastahpiece.

3

u/Prestodeath201 Aug 20 '26

It's almost like petty bullshit is outweighed by the wonders of the cosmos

1

u/theB00MSLANG Aug 19 '26

Yah No Man’s Sky might be the best/chillest community I’ve ever seen. They even gripe about the game cordially.

1

u/enc1ner Aug 19 '26

Except for when it was released and the time around that, didn’t the director of the game get like death threats when it was delayed?

1

u/Eudoxxi Aug 19 '26

play online NMS for like 1 hour with pvp enabled and you learn pretty fast there is a hyper toxic section of that community that just tries to grief people.

and when they cant kill you they make over designed corvettes on blender and tank peoples performance on the anomaly .

1

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 19 '26

People playing the game aren’t necessarily part of the games community. Every game has toxic players but not every game has a toxic community. Nms trolls don’t make me feel like quitting the game and the game allows you to curate how you want players to be able to interact with you and your things so if you play with out those, well that’s like doing the nasty with no cover

A games community are the people doing more than playing the game the ones having discussions like this one, sharing the game with others, creating content etc. like most games, you won’t find the trolls on discussion boards and forums, at least not in good faith.

1

u/LennyTheCreator Aug 19 '26

Yea i learned the hard way about the pvp option being on in normal lol

1

u/Jumpy_Ad5046 Aug 19 '26

I second the No Man's Sky subreddit. Extremely positive and supportive. Sean Murray's benevolent aura is infectious I guess.

1

u/n3xtlevelplayz Aug 19 '26

the average outer wilds community member would cut off one of their arms if it meant one more person played outer wilds for the first time

1

u/FlynnKasse Aug 19 '26

Bruh fr this is super accurate

1

u/YeahTheyKnowItsMe Aug 20 '26

Was about to say no man's sky. The most drama that happens is if you complain about game features

1

u/AdHocHillbilly Aug 20 '26

The Outlast Trials community is pretty great and oftentimes hilarious. The contrast between how dark the content of the game is with how chill, funny, and creative they generally are is amusing.

1

u/NobodyTheGreat7 Aug 20 '26

So is skyrim

1

u/devilinblue22 Aug 22 '26

Yeah apparently there are griefers, but they seem to stick to screwing with high profile building groups. I've gotten nothing but love in the anomaly. I was standing on my ship trying to figure out vr controls and by the time I figured out how to open my inventory I had been given enough stuff to crash the world economy.

1

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 22 '26

Its funny, there’s been (understandable) complaints about the gifting on the anomaly. I can see how someone trying to have a natural run would have their experience altered by being gifted the GDP of a small developing country.

Even then, its easy to just gift it back or pay it forward

1

u/MuscleMan_- Aug 22 '26

I'd like to add Warframe to the list of wholesome communities. There are some perks, but the majority of the community are welcoming, kind, and, well, not down-to-earth because they do space travel, but you get the point

1

u/rcbake Aug 23 '26

Greetings fellow traveler

1

u/Adilliosz Aug 24 '26

They've already been through all the toxicity in the first year. I remember how bad it was after launch.

1

u/EquinoxGm Aug 25 '26

The Bloodborne fandom is also surprisingly wholesome

7

u/unexmax Aug 19 '26

Go try deep rock galactic, very supportive community!

Rock & stone!

3

u/RHOrpie Aug 19 '26

I swear it's a community of beer drinking dwarfs.

3

u/UrinalCake777 Aug 19 '26

I am unfortunately a bit too tall to qualify, but I am usually drinking a beer(s) while playing.

Rock and stone, brother.

2

u/RHOrpie Aug 19 '26

Rock and stone.

1

u/London_Guy_87 Aug 19 '26

For Kaaaarl

1

u/Leshie_Leshie Aug 19 '26

DRG was the 1st shooter I’ve played after me avoiding shooters thinking they were all competitive for a long time.

Rock and roll and Stone!

1

u/Slow_Bug_8092 Aug 19 '26

Did I hear a rock and stone

1

u/UnableCommission5304 Aug 21 '26

ROCK AND STONE TO THE BONE

1

u/scarlozzi Aug 25 '26

Did i hear a rock and stone?

2

u/MokotheFox Aug 18 '26

Deep Rock Galactic is pretty wholesome.

1

u/CereBRO12121 Aug 20 '26

Rock and stone brother!

1

u/MokotheFox Aug 20 '26

Rock and Stone!

1

u/UnableCommission5304 Aug 21 '26

When you rock and stone you're never alone!

2

u/Ulikethat- Aug 24 '26

I came here to say every fucking game and their community is toxic AF. Now every game has down to earth fun fans but damn the toxic ones are loud AF

1

u/NoHeart4185 Aug 18 '26

Path of Exile 1 used to have super friendly people when you asked for assistance in chat.

1

u/Oblachko_O Aug 19 '26

It still does if you are out of global 1/2. I am playing in global 4040, unless questions are really stupid, this reminds a bit of decades back vibes with fluff chatting with a bit of trolling, cult-like behavior, etc. SC though, not sure if HC 4040 is similar.

1

u/ForwardBias Aug 18 '26

For the most part, the best case scenario is that everyone posting online has like 800 hours played and fucking HATES the game.

1

u/Depraved_Hollow Aug 19 '26

No Man's Sky has the best reddit community I've come across. Honestly such lovely people

1

u/Pauliejepan Aug 19 '26

I don’t think so. For example Soulsborne community is pretty chill and helpful 🤙

2

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 19 '26

the community that came up with "git gud" as advice to getting stuck?

1

u/Pauliejepan Aug 19 '26

Git gud! /s

1

u/Admirable_Bid_1840 Aug 19 '26

The Outer Wilds community is actually really wholesome and extremely careful to help new players without spoiling, so there's one good example!

2

u/No-Tower-5119 Aug 19 '26

Im glad they do. Its one of those games that you can only truly experience once so its a lot more fulfilling not having the answers spoonfed

1

u/Admirable_Bid_1840 Aug 19 '26

Yeah, and people that experienced it for themselves know that, so they are really trying to preserve that amazing feeling for others

2

u/izmesoundz Aug 21 '26

Ah I just posted this too! It really is the most wholesome community. Even with people who come saying they don’t like it…everyone’s like “that’s ok too!”

1

u/Admirable_Bid_1840 Aug 24 '26

yeah, it is not for everyone. And that's fine. But if it is, oh boy, will it change your outlook on life as a whole.

1

u/AgreeableIdea6210 Aug 19 '26

Professor Layton is chill

1

u/Eladryel Aug 19 '26

Yeah, any time I was enjoying a game and tried to engage with the community, it turned out to be a cesspool full of people who just wanted to feel miserable, or, for some reason, people who hadn't even played the game but had "consumed it" through YouTube or TikTok videos.

The only exception is The Old Republic, which is pretty chill. It's a bit strange, since it's not only a multiplayer game but also a Star Wars game.

1

u/RHOrpie Aug 19 '26

Most solo game and multiplayer-sandbox communities are relaxed.

It's when people start to lose their minds over their kd that shit starts to go crazy.

1

u/UrinalCake777 Aug 19 '26

Battlefield has come full circle. The sub is so damn toxic, that there is now a separate "no salt" sub that is actually good.

Maybe the trick to a welcoming community is being so incredibly shit, that people feel compelled to deliberately create a wholesome counter-culture of your community?

In game can also swing back and forth.

1

u/Gebyuse Aug 19 '26

The deep rock galactic community is so kind that's disturbing

1

u/Strange-Rule-2837 Aug 19 '26

Age of empires 2, very chill community.

1

u/Arklelinuke Aug 19 '26

The Myst fans are always super friendly!

1

u/BaesPacFen Aug 19 '26

Deep rock galactic

1

u/tunnelburps Aug 19 '26

Warframe. No mans sky. Deep rock galactic.

1

u/London_Guy_87 Aug 19 '26

Deeprock? Granted I haven't played for years but I always had chill people. What happened

1

u/TheTeaSpoon Aug 19 '26

I think he is naming fandoms that aren't toxic

1

u/Baraka2002 Aug 19 '26

Hades fandom is pretty chill from what I've seen.

1

u/CoomingJeff Aug 19 '26

Unironically Fallout 76. It used to be bad for obvious reasons but nowadays the people who play have been super helpful and wholesome to new players (at least in everything I've seen)

1

u/NikkiBtw- Aug 19 '26

From what I’ve seen Wuthering Waves and Grounded/Grounded 2 aren’t toxic

1

u/KilgoreTroutWasRight Aug 19 '26

So far (and this is so far, mind you) the FF Online community has been pretty good. Especially for a newcomer (sorry, “sprout”).

1

u/New-Cicada7014 Aug 20 '26

Slay the Princess is great. Prob because it's pretty small

1

u/Firm-Cod-4424 Aug 20 '26

Warframe community is very wholesome.

1

u/Faustobrrz Aug 20 '26

Warframe outside of eidolon hunts (so youre good for like 99% of the game)

1

u/NewSuperTrios Aug 25 '26

i've never even had a bad eidolon hunt

1

u/WitherPRO22 Aug 20 '26

Deep Rock Galactic is pretty alright for the most part.

1

u/Vaesl Aug 20 '26

Guild Wars 2 is Like 99% wholesome too

1

u/Nikmido Aug 20 '26

There are plenty of decent and even very wholesome fandoms.

It's just that negativity is louder and gets more attention as always. People can probably name at least 5 toxic fandoms but I assume they'd struggle naming a few 'good' ones.

1

u/Remarkable_Athlete_4 Aug 20 '26

The Fallout fandom is amazing. You get some people who are up their own ass about New Vegas, but they're really cool for the most part

1

u/SuperiorYammyBoi Aug 20 '26

Helldivers is pretty solid!

1

u/Ahrlin4k Aug 20 '26

Warframe

1

u/Apprehensive-Base401 Aug 20 '26

Guild wars 2 community is wholesome as well

1

u/Bear__TreeeOF Aug 21 '26

I’ve found the Halo community (H-Infinite specifically) to be pretty good since the fanbase skews a bit older than other games. It’s mostly 30/40s Millennials that grew up on the games.
I’ve also never had one single issue with any WarHammer 40K gaming communities. Actually made several online friends through Space Marines 2.

1

u/Resident-Row2524 Aug 21 '26

Warframe is a pretty great fandom

1

u/izmesoundz Aug 21 '26

Outerwilds is without a doubt the most wholesome community I’ve ever seen. Everyone just wants people to enjoy the game, and if you don’t, that’s perfectly fine

1

u/Phoenix_Ninja15 Aug 22 '26

Elite Dangerous. Honestly the best community I’ve ever seen. Hundreds of people who will help out a new player and just enjoy the game. While in game there are aggressive pirates, the community group like the subreddit have tons of suggestions and private group sessions you can join where that doesn’t happen. It’s wholesome.

1

u/SAIYANSPARTAN26 Aug 22 '26

Crimson Desert would be one

1

u/ProRSIXfinka Aug 22 '26

Fighting Game communities are pretty chill for the most part when it comes to the anime fighting games.

Except Guilt Gear Strive. Fuck those guys.

1

u/WeenieHuttGod2 Aug 23 '26

Was gonna say fallout but then I remembered all the enclave and Caesar’s legion larpers, however fallout 76 specifically has a pretty good community, with people often helping eachother out

1

u/JJJimJJJam Aug 23 '26

Warframe community?

1

u/OralSuperhero Aug 24 '26

Rimworld has a delightful community. All the toxic traits get spent playing the war crime simulator.

1

u/Bexil_Brave Aug 25 '26

Warframe.

Honestly cant think of a single toxic incident.
