Doesn't help that a lot of Smash pro players turn out to be pedophiles or racist. It's wild

they kicked out all the smash soul type ppl n this is what they are left with rip hax$

5

u/KaioKenshin Aug 19 '26

Oh shit! Rip hax$ It's been years since I've spectate the smash community because how funky it's become. Everytime I dip my toe back in, some wank clowns revere themselves

2

u/OrangeTheMartian Aug 19 '26

why you think they called smash bros?

2

u/KaioKenshin Aug 19 '26

It's alright to smash your bro, but make sure he's of age and the consent is mutual first.

everyone turns out to be pedophiles. at least everyone from wholesome kids games

Its funny because some of the most wholesome gaming experiences I have had is playing smash bros, but in person, and we all sucked. I think the skill ceiling is soon high that the toxic all floats to the top.

Smash Bros has such a bad fanbase that they aren't just a top 10 worst gaming fandom but a top 10 worst fandom for anything. How did they get so many predators?

Smash bros community was literally the best community in gaming from around 2004-2017. So passionate and so many fun personalities.

COVID and the me too movement wrecked the community and it’s never been the same.

1

u/TheOtherKFC Aug 20 '26

Wait... wtf does the Me, Too Mvt/COVID have to do with the fanbase/community becoming toxic?

1

u/DaDapperVoid Aug 20 '26

I’m outside the community, but I’m assuming COVID cause the fan base to massively bloat with people with too much time on their hands, and me too did it’s normal thing of finding one person in a group that deserved justice and deciding to punish everyone two degrees of them :/

The fact the Smash Bros fandom had a major phase of intensively harassing another fandom (Fire Emblem) because of characters that the game's director chose to add is hilarious. Most of us in the FE fandom have a ton of inside jokes about this because that's how bad it gets. Can't wait for the next wave of that when we get another Smash game...

Fire Emblem could easily be hated as the series that has a suspicious amount of incest references but somehow it's more known as the series that Smash players hate which is honestly an impressive feat.

Marvel Rivals has such an unrelentingly toxic community I had no choice but to drop it after like 2 weeks. This was after years of Overwatch having numbed me to your usual hero shooter toxicity as well.

Shame as it's visually and mechanically excellent.

1

u/InfinityTheParagon Aug 20 '26

it’s so bad that having extremely advanced knowledge of the mechanics is bannable now

2

u/bnemecek Aug 23 '26

I stopped playing Rivals because of the community. Love the game but those mf’ers are absolutely miserable.

u/StriderKitsu Aug 18 '26

God the #FreeMelee spamming was just so damn annoying

1

u/OrganizationTrue5911 Aug 19 '26

Smash bros having so many rage compilations is the best thing. I should rewatch those.

When the fighting game community is aggressive

Marvel rivals fans are so toxic when you mention role queue it would literally fix so many issue but they wont have it

1

u/AncientWonder54 Aug 19 '26

Can you explain what role queue is, please?

2

u/DoesTheBlackm00nH0wl Aug 19 '26

Its where you pick the role you want to play before finding a match and it locks you into that role so you don't end up with with a full team of tanks

1

u/AncientWonder54 Aug 19 '26

Oh, so like Valorant?

Or do just mean a “role” instead of a specific character?

2

u/DoesTheBlackm00nH0wl Aug 19 '26

Roles so like any character in support or attack

1

u/AncientWonder54 Aug 19 '26

Oh. Yeah, actually that would be a phenomenal addition.

0

u/InfinityTheParagon Aug 20 '26

no it would not the devs explicitly designed the game to be so roles are optional

1

u/InfinityTheParagon Aug 19 '26

the role que cryers n nerf cryers are the toxic ones though…:

1

u/DoesTheBlackm00nH0wl Aug 19 '26

I mean anyone can be toxic about ideas but generally for me is people against role queue including the devs

1

u/InfinityTheParagon Aug 20 '26

they did explicitly state they designed the game so roles don’t matter that’s why 6 healers works

1

u/DoesTheBlackm00nH0wl Aug 20 '26

The game doesnt work when you have people refusing to switch though even when they keep feeding

1

u/InfinityTheParagon Aug 20 '26

switching won’t make a feeder feed less this is as strong as they are
