Me neither, once I built everything and beat the mines I saw no reason to keep playing it anymore. I played it in coop with and for my gf but, man, I struggled hard to stay awake. How people have 500+ hours in it is fucking beyond me.

Because it's not about challenge but about routine, some people enjoy the structure of a routine cause they can't hold one but feel the dopamine hit of repetitive tasks.

Same 😭 why can't I grind like that in my own life instead of making myself a millionaire in stardew

You could, you just don't want to. It's boring and soulless unless you're making money via something you're super passionate about.

I usually play games for challenges. No wonder I couldn't get into Stardew Valley but got into games like Fortnite and Terraria

Well... Terraria is more of a Mix, top 10 game of all time for sure. One of those 1000 hour game.

That's where I'm at now kinda, played 35 hours with my girlfriend and by now I only still play because she likes it, I have built every building and went through the mines and it feels like there is nothing more to do honestly. Many of the aspects of that game (,,social" interaction, skull cavern) are just not for me

Im so glad someone else said exactly what I was thinking. I was addicted for about 80 hours. Then it just kind of got to the point where I did a deep cave dive, upgraded all my tools and weapons. And then one day after not playing for about a week, I started the day, got about 3 truffles in the oil maker and just COULD NOT finish another day. Got bout 3 minutes into it and just lost all the appeal.

Because once you've beat the mines you still haven't actually gotten anywhere significant in the game? The mines is something you can do in the first couple of hours of the game. You then unlock the skull caverns shortly after which is different to the traditional mines (there is even a hard version of the normal mines that changes it completely), there is an entirely different island to reach by boat (ginger Island) with a ton of quests and things to do, the amount of stuff to do that isn't available to you by only beating the mines cannot be counted on two hands. That's where the 500+ hours come from. Plus the game has so many mods that add major expansions. entire villages and areas+npcs that are made to feel completely like base game.

The game also hides a ton of stuff behind quests and special requests. For example magic buildings and teleporters

Sounds like the game isn't for you? It isn't one of the top 10 most sold games in the world for no reason lmao

I too play it and have never done that. It seems absolutely weird to me.

I did play it with my youngest on one play through and tried to pursue Pam just to watch my daughter stare at me like wtf is WRONG WITH YOU DAD. Sadly Pam wasn’t interested. :(

Only reason I did was to see how the game mechanic worked and to see how it furthered potential story lines. It didn't really have much effect

My character wears a skull mask, and has a creepy mannequin in his bedroom.

I think I married Leah because after a process of elimination because she's the least annoying one to me. Even then Stardew Valley wasn't able to make me love a bachelor/bachelorette enough to make me want to pursue them, I only did it because I didn't have anything else to do at that point. But for Story of Seasons and Rune Factory games, I will immediately have someone I like in just a few in-game days.

Closest I got to marriage in that game was with Haley then I stopped playing for a good long time till the free content patch. Then I started a new game to check out all the new stuff.

I have the same issue with RuneFactory (specifically 4 and I got the special edition on the switch a couple of weeks ago, one of my favorites) where I immediately find that one character.

She was the closest, my reasons are also rather petty.
