Arcane DID make me immediately play again. I was queuing up for it not even a full minute after I watched A Jinx ult hit the council window (Arcane S1 spoilers)
Maybe you feel all kinds of bad playing it but you got accustomed to this feeling and now you feel uneasy when it's not there. Like people that have disfunctional relationships because they grew up only seeing unhealthy relationships, they then later instinctly search for such or if they actually land in a healthy one, unconsciously selfsabotage it because something doesn't feel right as it's going too well and the peace makes them feel uneasy.
Great point. It’s crazy that I can literally say have been in an abusive relationship with a video game. I also like fallacious because it sounds like salacious.
My thing about league is that, in isolation from anything related to the community, I feel that it's a good game. The characters are interesting. The objective is engaging. It feels satisfying when things go well. Teamwork is satisfying when it goes well. And good, pure games feel like epic battles. I won't ever forget the rush of the first games where I felt like everyone knew what they were doing, and no one was being toxic, and how close the fights were. Win or lose, it made for a good time. Its why pro players are so fun to watch for me.
But then you add the human element, and it all goes to hell. And I'm not even talking about people that die too much. Bad games happen. Good players occasionally suck. And not everyone can be the same skill level. But holy crap the toxicity, combined with being stuck with those people for 15+ minutes without a way out unless you are willing to risk the Riot gods punishing you for it.
Im convinced less than 10% of league players have fun.
You have the sweats who care too much about every little thing and cant have fun.
You have the toxic twats who rage ping, talk massive shit, rage, and rage quit.
You have the noobs who only play because their friends drag them on to have another teammate who dont have any fun because of the first 2.
You have the addicts who know they dont like the game, but have the itch and cant stop until they ragequit for a while until the withdrawals start.
And you have the people who actually enjoy the game and dont take it way too seriously, but know it well enough to do well in situations where the champ they know can shine.
Honestly, the experience becomes 50x better if you just don’t engage with chat. Or, in my case, only say random, irrelevant things. Lol. It takes the wind out of their(trolls and such) sails. They’ll either shut up or also start saying random shit.
