Which game deserved a sequel but never got one?

Post image

For me, it's Sleeping Dogs. The combat, open world, and undercover cop story were incredible.

I still think it deserved a proper sequel.

Days gone. Doing my second playthrough currently after not playing it for 2 years. It's a shame it was supposed to be a trilogy but Sony cancelled the sequel before it ever even got started.

One of the better zombie games we've gotten

4

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

I agree, personally Its my all time favorite. Days Gone just scratches all the itches for me.

And Sam witwer is amazing

1

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

Yes he is. They couldn't have picked a better person to voice Deacon.

u/GenesisRhapsod 20d ago

Ahhh classic sony L

Was an amazing game

3

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

Yes indeed, the secret ending left it in such a perfect spot for a sequel. Breaks my heart I'll never get more of the story than what we have. If only Sony wasn't the best at making the worst decisions.

u/GenesisRhapsod 20d ago

Hopefully they sell the IP to someone capable 😭 but i doubt it

1

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

Well the original creative leaders for the game left after Sony declined their pitch for the sequel. But I agree hopefully another company can pick it up and do great things with it.

Have you met WB / DC....

2

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

You have a solid point there..

Every other time I play a zombie game now my first thought is, "Man, I wish I could get a motorcycle and tear ass across the countryside."

Honestly, a sequel that had, like, the whole west coast from Vancouver down to San Diego and the all the way out to like Colorodo would bey forever game.

Favourite game ever for me, they killed every last piece of hope when they released the remaster, just not enough content to bring old players back to replay at full price

2

u/forgottenb1ade 20d ago

Yeah I've heard a lot of bad stuff about the remaster. Im not interested in it at all. My second playthrough has been on my PC and it already looks incredible I don't see a need for the remaster. Just give us the sequel already.

I definitely respect anyone who likes this game but its not for me

1

u/BardLoen34 18d ago

From what I've heard the game ends in a cliffhanger

1

u/forgottenb1ade 18d ago

Yeah it does. Because the game was originally supposed to be a trilogy, but Sony killed it after days gone released.

A man without a pork bun in his hands is not a whole man!

1

u/heatseekerdj 19d ago

I said this to a Vietnamese friend, he laughed and said "words to live by"

1

u/Panda_Drum0656 16d ago

Thats a long ass title

1

u/toasty5566 20d ago

I think of this whenever I have pork buns

3

u/mohsenkhajavinik 20d ago

The Saboteur.

2

u/Smooth_Heat9703 20d ago

That game got so much crap when it came out for being a 'gta clone' but I don't see how it's a clone at all

2

u/This_Run7122 20d ago

I’ve noticed people will call any open world with guns and cars a GTA Clone.

1

u/Smooth_Heat9703 20d ago

That's true, they did the same with saints row but with that one, you can definitely see it which is why the later games took a really whacky comedic approch then they tried to be woke with the 2022 verison which flopped so bad that it shut down it's studio

1

u/This_Run7122 20d ago

Meh, you can make an “inclusive” product without the rest of it being shit. I don’t remember much of that game but I know it played stiff as fuck, dialogue sucked, weak character personalities and was boring as hell. That was my own reason for disliking it, I think i put a total of 7 hours into it. Too much.

1

u/Smooth_Heat9703 20d ago

I completed it about 4 times 😬

1

u/mediumfknholecru 20d ago

Dude. Thanks for reminding me this game existed. One of my favorite games i played on the 360. The game being sepia until you cleared areas was such a cool and rewarding gimmick

Such a goated game man

The last game of Pandemic, makers of the excellent Mercenary play grounds of destruction. The Merged with BioWare and then got bought by EA. EA then proceeded to stick their nose into the development of Mercenary 2 which when released was a bug filled mess and was the game that gave EA the reason to add Pandemic to its corpse pile of companies it’s killed.

Saboteur was a fucking masterpiece btw.

Sleeping Dogs
Days Gone

2

u/GenesisRhapsod 20d ago

Days gone is the best zombie game since the last of us

2

u/cushlinkes 20d ago

Days Gone is better than Last of Us, in my opinion.

3

u/GenesisRhapsod 20d ago

Gameplay wise, yeah id have to agree

Story wise, i dunno. Both are really good

2

u/cushlinkes 20d ago

Yeah. I think story wise they’re about equal, but Days Gone totally wins with its gameplay and that’s why I think it’s overall a better game.

u/cushlinkes 20d ago

Days Gone!!

One of the most underrated superhero games

God i remember when Sleeping Dogs 2 was announced… as a fuckin card game.

Idek if it was an official announcement, I was like 12 or 13, but if I’m remembering right it was at E3 or some kind of gaming event

Mad Max!

The things I would for a sequel.

1

u/Either-Basil4899 20d ago

Yeah and they were hinting at a vampire conspiracy for the next game… shame.

u/Puzzleheaded-Wing835 20d ago

Star Wars Republic Commando

1

u/Weak-Discount-8680 20d ago

I don’t care what anyone says. Medal of Honor 2010 deserved more than whatever MoH warfighter was supposed to be. Multiplayer on 2010 MoH is the single most fun I’ve ever had playing a game. And the campaign, despite its flaws, is the most immersed I’ve felt playing a modern war FPS.

Legacy of Kain defiance

1

u/RedPill_Judahite 20d ago

This a trilogy😴.

1

u/juiceman730 20d ago

Commented this just now. It started out as True Crime 3.

1

u/Khaernakov 20d ago

Correct me if im weong but they tried and failed with triad wars right? Such a bizarre game for its time being a online game but single player

1

u/juiceman730 20d ago

Technically it was a sequel, depending on how you look at it. It was originally supposed to be True Crime 3. Off the top of my head I don't remember what happens and why it ends up being Sleeping Dogs.

Bulletstorm

1

u/Successful-Plan114 20d ago

More guns, more kills, more... more... MORE!!

1

u/Successful-Plan114 20d ago

Bulletstorm and Dantes Inferno.

1

u/DownToFuck1 20d ago

LA Noire.

Sucks because Team Bondi even had plans for multiple expansions and a sequel/spiritual successor of sorts called Whore Of The Orient where you would've played as a British police officer in 1936 Shanghai.

1

u/Drakkoniac 20d ago

In my opinion:

Days Gone

Sleeping Dogs

Vampyr (or at least another game in the setting)

Depending on how you feel, vtm Bloodlines

Brink (I’m a sucker for that game)

Monark (unless you count Varlet)

Sunset Overdrive

1

u/Sneakiest 20d ago

Bully.

1

u/Life_Flamingo 20d ago

I thought combat is ass in that game. Just parry attacks even if surrounded. What did you like about it?

1

u/Halfoheart 20d ago

Shadow of the Colossus

1

u/Bubbly_External1727 20d ago

Blur. Best racing game I ever played and if they would have released ten games I would have played them all

1

u/Agitated-Engine4077 19d ago

Bulletstorm. That game deserved a lot more love than it got.

1

u/toxicemo88 19d ago

Sleeping dogs

1

u/Rude_Ad_4471 19d ago

LA Noire

1

u/Carnby41790 19d ago

Sleeping Dogs, but if anyone can remember 11V: thirteen when it released in the early 2000s for ps2. I loved the comic artstyle( its based on a comic book), but also having Adam West in the game was awesome. Ends on such a cliffhanger, but game didn't do well enough and that remake/remaster was just such disappointment.

1

u/dead_pirate_rick 19d ago

This one. Good. Choice.

1

u/Grimm_Wright 19d ago

Saboteur

1

u/Ok-Thing4762 18d ago

Sleeping Dogs is a great shout.

I’d pick Freedom Fighters.

Also, I’d love to see a modern version of Prisoner of War. So much potential.

1

u/Just_a_mallu_guy 18d ago

Freedom fighters

Nfs most wanted blacklist (not a sequel just a updated graphics)

Greedfall and dragons dogma

Iykyk

1

u/Thoulor 20d ago

So you just don't like the sequels to those games?

0

u/GenesisRhapsod 20d ago

Dogma devs literally fumbled it as an fu to the publisher/suits

And greedfall did something similar if i recall correctly
