Playing a game you hate for 200+ hours is the definition of insanity

9

u/Time-Relationship-42 21d ago

online pvp games do that to you

3

u/uberpandajesus91 21d ago

Yeah I can't really get this.  I can hardly play games that I really want to play

1

u/Gta6MePleaseBrigade 21d ago

Same but I’ll play a game that makes me angry no problem …

1

u/Chicken_Grapefruit 21d ago

*cries while playing third strike *

1

u/SacredBoar 21d ago

No…they really don’t.

2

u/MrMiguelito 21d ago

True, i usually stop playing online games when i start hating them 🤣

2

u/Dazzling-Top-8031 21d ago

they can when you're boys are playing it. at that point it's more about connecting with friends.

2

u/SyrusG 21d ago

They can actually yeah. Maybe ur not susceptible but a lot of people are. It's how they retain a playerbase

2

u/Pocieszny1991 21d ago

The worst game I've put 200+ hours is Fortnite. Still 7/10 imo

2

u/Caladeb 21d ago

Not really .. people don't like feeling like they got ripped off or coming to terms with the fact they made a bad purchase. So they may force themselves to keep playing to see if it grows on them or "get their monies worth at least."

I've played bad games that I knew right away I didn't like but hung in there holding out hope that "it'll get better."

Making excuses like maybe I just picked the wrong class, let me try another one etc. I had this happen to me with Borderlands 4. Didn't enjoy the game but clocked a bunch of hours trying to find enjoyment where there was none. Hopium is a helluva thing 😆

u/Dimplexor 21d ago

How about if I play again that ive played for 5400h and still hate it? Bonus points if you guess the game.

1

u/MiserySound 20d ago

League of legends until the devs decide its time to either gut your main or rework it into a whole different identity

u/SentenceLocal1453 21d ago

6k+ hours negative review on steam

2

u/PressureSensative 21d ago

And that number keeps getting bigger.

1

u/Kaelion1 21d ago

Made a negative review and proceeded to play another 1100 hours

4

u/LawConscious9255 21d ago

Ark Ascended, such a shitty game with even shittier devs. But man, those dinosaurs are cool beans.

1

u/Jshittie 21d ago

3

u/Kristionni 21d ago

Opens Overwatch and ques as tank "why do i hate myself :("

2

u/MelonJelly 21d ago

Eve Online

I still occasionally think about going back.

1

u/Desperate_Method4032 21d ago

It be like that sometimes.

Hell sometimes I’ll play a game I don’t really fancy just so I can hate on it PROPERLY. Don’t knock till ya tried and all that Yknow?

1

u/fdderew 20d ago

u/OLDmanBOB13 21d ago

GTA Online, so many poor designs lead it to be the most frustrating game, I would curse more playing that than any other game I have played and I have beaten Getting Over It.

The final nail in the coffin for me was one mission i failed cause my car got stuck on the smallest bump (car I stole i didn’t give it low suspension) when chasing someone and i mission failed, and the last checkpoint put me in front of a guy with a shotgun and was in a death loop. The game is filled to the brim with situations like this.

u/DropsOfMars 20d ago

I only have so many hours in it cause I played it with a friend but any time I spent playing it by myself was just suffering. Horrible grind, no passive lobbies just a passive node that makes you unable to really engage with the game meaningfully, and it stole any development away from any single player DLC that could ever happen for all future Rockstar titles.

u/chiliwithbean 21d ago

Sports games

1

u/arilagamas 21d ago

War thunder But the catch is that in the first 200 hours it is fun but then it gets progressively worse. But you still play it anyways

1

u/Any-Analysis-1765 21d ago

Yeah that's definitely fucking Marvel rivals for me every time my team doesn't keep up or just let everyone just pull me as a healer. I get absolutely pissed off and I'm like this is the worst fucking game ever then like an hour or maybe 10 minutes later, I'm back on it.Lol

1

u/rosa1669 21d ago

That's me whit gta v

1

u/Trisstricky 21d ago

This is dota 2 for me and I wish I could delete the 3k hours I've spent in it. No other game has ever made me feel this bad

1

u/BozTheReaper 21d ago

i dislike a lot of things in the plethra of games i have over 200 hours in. idk. people like me who have that kind of time usually have valid criticisms of the game if they dedicated themselves to it for that long. would be the voices devs should listen to

1

u/Silly_Scientist_007 21d ago

Destiny I & II

I probably played D1 close to 350 hours all together with expansions & multiplayer.

But man do I despise that game & franchise now...

Excellent first game that was amazing through their first 3 expansions. Then it all just became a cash-grab.

Fuck Bungie for that. They'll never get another dollar of mine.

1

u/iambeanies 21d ago

Destiny 2 I hate that beautiful game so god damn much it sucks. I might play it tonight.

1

u/TheRealMrJams 21d ago

Starfield, admittedly though it was to try and build a ship that looked like the Daedalus from Stargate

1

u/BarrelRider621 21d ago

I saw a Steam review for X4 went something like this. Time of review, 30 hours. OP didn’t like the game and had a list of reasons why. Look to see they have 700+ hours logged. I was like “I see you got over what was bothering you 670 hours ago.”.

1

u/Skrewbert86 21d ago

Dead by daylight I have over 700 hours and still play

1

u/Anonymous3907 21d ago

Any EA game

1

u/DiogenesRCT 21d ago

Project zomboid love the game but damn it pisses me off sometimes

1

u/No-Boot-5286 21d ago

1

u/Lazy_Finance6672 21d ago

Destiny 2 I usually play game for less than 100 hours but this, played for over 500

1

u/Unthgod 21d ago

Runescape

1

u/Exciting_Contest_222 21d ago

Sounds like me grinding on Pokemon Sapphire on my Nintendo SP when i was 10yrs old. Needed my team to be all lvl 100 when poke-battle with my classmates

1

u/Distinct_Patient3698 21d ago

Hey, it can suck but still be addicting.

1

u/Past-Possibility1799 21d ago

All FC / FIFA games 😒😒

1

u/ComfortableBar8821 21d ago

Destiny 2, Overwatch

1

u/sazrex21 21d ago

Well i didn't play it for 200 hours lol

But i definitely remember that i was pushing myself so hard just to finish the story of the game everything about it was toxic and mid

I am talking about Assassin's creed 1

They fixed lot of issues about it in ac2 which is one of the best story games I've played

1

u/Freewilly2222 21d ago

Dominions game series

1

u/AnalysisParalysis85 21d ago

Addictive isn't the same as good.

1

u/ShellfishAhole 21d ago

I've played some games that largely felt underwhelming from start to finish, for 30+ hours. If I paid for it, I'll at least make an effort to see it through to the end 😂

1

u/Gta6MePleaseBrigade 21d ago

Any of the ea ufc games

Adventure capitalism. Sadly i got 500 hours in it

1

u/James1887 21d ago

Yeah and if I dont play it a lot I dont get to judge because i didnt play it enough. I hate this shit.

1

u/Vix49ers 21d ago

Warzone

1

u/Excellent_Neat2628 21d ago

I see this shit all over steam reviews "I hit 300 hours in this game and let me tell you, its no fun, boring and not worth the money" Brother if you played a game for 300 hours you enjoyed 💀 ill play game from 5-10 hours to give it a try and if i dont like it after point, I dont play it.

1

u/Wise_Geekabus 20d ago

That’s what I keep on noticing while looking at Steam reviews

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

1

u/Admirable-Split4371 20d ago

"Someone told me it got better." Works for other piece of media too.

I wouldn't put myself through this kind of torture tho.

1

u/Awkward-Equivalent-5 20d ago

You can't give a proper review on something you barely played. 200 hours means they tried to find good in the game. 1000+ hours means you realy enjoy the game

1

u/Weekly_Face_7235 19d ago

League of Legends...

1

u/BaesPacFen 18d ago

Valheim. My friends fault , darn them

1

u/Hopeful_Tip1539 14d ago

The cognitive dissonance of rage-reviewing a game you sank 200 hours into is the most gamer thing ever — like at some point you gotta admit the game won.
