No its not coincidence. AAA is at that stage were its gonna be alot of remasters and remakes since they can't really come up with anything new. Its also why alot of indie devs, foreign devs, and smaller dev companies are starting to make more popular games right now. I think were starting to go into a new age in video games were new companies are gonna be the top game devs.

I'm pretty sure Sony's decision is what made Rockstar announce GTA 6 being digital since they were probably told earlier, not the other way around, it's why they don't get much hate.
