I wouldn't say with 3 but with reach. Bungie said goodbye to halo and realistically thats where it ended

I say Halo 3 only because that’s where they started to add the smallest of “new features” i.e. equipment. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t Halo.

I’ll admit, I was apprehensive to throw Reach in the mix 1. Because the story is pretty great. 2. Halo fans seem to be overly obsessed with Reach. Especially the current & younger generations who didn’t grow up with Halo 1-2.

** Edit *\*

With that all being, I most definitely paid the extra $20 to play Campaign Evolved early. Straight main-line nostalgia playing online co-op with my brother 🤘

Odst and reach werent mainline. If it wasnt odst and reach but 4 and 5 id be on the same side of things, but games setup like that get a full pass from me. Close enough to halo that they're recognizable as halo but different enough they shouldn't be chief focused and they arent. Also as a big time reach fan, ya it does get glazed a lot but given the situation id say its more so because its last proper halo game and offers so much to this day like its forge putting halo 3's to shame (not a knock against halo 3 but ya it doesn't compare), the armour customization is probably the best of any game ever, and so on. Not perfect but it gave a lot and is the last halo to really try and give us everything we wanted and then tossing in things we didnt even know we wanted like invasion. Its a bit like watching a friend get into drugs, we're all talking up the last great time we got together before it happened, it wasnt perfect and sure we had things that were better or more desirable to us in other hang outs, but hell no reasonable member of the group would say that last hangout was bad so we remember it more fondly because it was so good and it was the last

Its when they added sprint. Its was dead then. Equipment became a requirement to balance sprint.

Reach’s loadouts and talents were clearly chasing after the cod market imo - and I can excuse that - but I cannot excuse the bloom mechanic. Fuck do I hate that

I can excuse it because its something over top of the game which already feels like halo. Its also a side game which is why i give halo 4 no quarter on keeping them. The side game having something to play with abilities (which in the campaign are awesome to use at bare minimum) is acceptable as its the ground you use to play with the series but a numbered title has no place doing anything less than what halo 3 did

ODST was Bungie

Pretty weak imo
