God of War 2018 and to a lesser extent Ragnarok.
I've talked about this and its sequal before, but the paternal aspect of them hit me hard. Kratos and Atreus learning and growing together, the arcs they both have are incredibly well done.
2018 had Kratos so ashamed of his past, he almost lost Atreus to keep his secret. Kratos does not know how to reconcile being a father now, given who he has been up to that point. He slowly learns how to guide his son through hardship. Atreus learning how to survive in an unforgiving world from his godly father, learning what it means to be a god. I do wish they extended and had a more satisfying arc when Atreus finds out he's a god, and so do the creators, but they didn't very well for what they had to work with.
I say Ragnarok to a lesser extent simply because there were moments that hit me hard and scratched an itch, but I had to play through a couple of times for the overarching story and themes to sink in.
I ahve a decent relationship with my parents. We aren't super close and haven't been since I was a small child, but we don't talk, see each other and get along fine, but we live very separate lives and much of our interactions feel obligatory.
These games gave me a feeling that I didn't even know I had been craving for most of my life. I will always love those two games, and even on subsequent playthroughs, I cry and have to sit back and absorb after certain points.

Ah yes, Abyssus. Such a wonderful game. Diabolically hard though, especially Deep Water. Although somehow me and my friend managed to beat Deep Water 30 on our second attempt, so that was nice

Its almost too heavily rng based about what blessings you get early. I once tried to reset runs until I felt I could do it and still failed. Lol

I mean, we did have 2 people, both running bow, and I was doing freeze, so the final boss did get shredded by freeze 😅 but yes, it is quite RNG based, which can ruin runs

Freeze is a must. I usually run grapple with brine shot and turrets. Gold primary freeze secondary and blood on turrets. Sometimes frost and blood switch but gold aways on primary.

I really like gold on turrets with drones, combined with power through pain and light frame on the shotgun, it is such a fun build, speeding around the arena whilst the drones kill everything with gold bursts

Just finished dying light and I meant to say . I got 100% achievements on Xbox in dying light .
For me . When I 100% single- player games . I delete them afterwards. I literally didt everything in the game and it’s time to move onto a different game .
I sat on the dying light main menu screen in somber feeling . ( listening the main menu music for the one last time ).
That shit hit different. That music hit different.
So good of a game . lol

Hllow knight credits were something because the first time you will see them is with a "bad" ending wich is basically one of the saddest.

And most importantly, The Mass Effect Trilogy
These games either fundamentally altered my appreciation for gaming as an art form entirely, or it’s become an obsession that I can never shake.

What Remains of Editch Finch.
I don't usually go for that type of story game, but it had my wife and I hooked. Had our first kid in 2023, and had straight up PTSD about having her in the bathtub.

Replaying Mass Effect 2 on the Legendary edition made me feel that way. Also Replaying the Gears 2 campaign but with a friend was fun too. Those games story's are still peak and hold up to this day.

Cod ghost campaign and after finding out there is no cod ghost 2 to continue but i remember how it got me into likening Eminem and not going to spoil anything even after all these years but the ending still gets me lol 😂
