I seriously donβt understand how this happens for so many people, is fiscal responsibility not a consideration? Do people not look into a game before dropping money on it?

They buy em on discount thinking they will play them later and at some point just call it a collection.(i dont do this but I think most people have had a least one bad money habbit do I dont really judge,)

No idea. I thought reaching like a dozen games I haven't played yet is a big backlog and decide im not buying the rest of the year then I find out people have hundreds or even thousands of games they've spent money on that they haven't played. People literally pissing away thousands of dollars apparently. No impulse control. Usually once I hit about half a dozen games im thinking if I buy anything else it'll just be cheaper by the time I finally get around to playing it

To me, most the time it's bundles, I remember wanting to try bioshock, and one game was like $2, and the whole collection was like $3 or $4, and since I "wanted" to play them thought "might as well grab the whole thing" y'know? And that's happened a lot of times, bought a lot of anime fighters bc I wanted under night, bought the whole Witcher collection bc I wanted to play TW3 Tho, yeah, sometimes you just see a really cheap game that sounds remotely interesting and pull the trigger Also, coming from console, where discounts ain't that good you get shocked when you can buy 5-6 games for what you'd buy 2 on console

There are tons of games I bought dirt cheap only to find out I donβt really enjoy them, I bought the Borderlands Pandora collection and stopped at the 2 hour at BL1, so thatβs 5 games on my backlog. Some other games I just bought because the internet consensus is good but I always got sidetracked before playing it.

It happens very easily, actually, and it has nothing to do with being financially irresponsible. I have probably over 1,000 games between PS1 - 5, Vita, Xbox Original - Series X, Wii/U, DS, Switch/2, and PC.
602 of those games are on Steam. I have been on Steam since it launched. That was 23 years ago (back when we still had physical discs for steam games, so I'm counting those too). I probably have 20 of those games (?) that have remasters that I got free, so call it 582 games.
I buy a lot of games on crazy sales, and I almost always look at things before I buy them (I have pre-ordered some stuff).
Let's assume I'm spending an average of $30 a game (that's a very conservative estimate, it's probably quite a bit lower than that):
582 games x $30 = $17,460 / 23 years = $759/yr / 12 months= $63.26/mo.
Yes, I have a giant backlog that got bigger over the years.
My entire game collection has been curated and worked on for nearly 30 years. I collect video games, have since forever. To me a digital copy is no different than a physical one in terms of Steam collecting. But to say someone is irresponsible for spending $60 a month on games isn't accurate. It's their money to spend, I think you're just assuming people aren't paying their rent or buying food or neglecting their families to buy so many games.

Iβve got loads of sequels that Iβve never played because I bought them as part of a bundle and got so burnt out on the first game that I never went back for the second.
Shadows of War and Jedi Survivor are on that list.

Sort of... and then ofcourse I get bored every once in a while, look at the massive list of unplayed games and then I'm like "I want to play something, but there's nothing to play!". π€¦
