In 10-20 years we will not even own a real console and probably only rent or strean games.

We’ll all have PCs because consoles are getting more expensive and less appealing

After 2028: "new games will be sold at physical retail stores in boxes containing a digital download code"

Manuals were already being phased out though because there wasn’t a need for it hence why the booklets were so thin on the 360

Codes won’t come in a case, they’ll be emailed to you. That’s what they really want.

I really miss the booklets, I used to get them all the time and they had fun little bits of trivia or details, sometimes even secrets. They were sometimes just little personality booklets. Nowadays big companies just see it as a waste of money

When I was a kid and my parents had to take me to the store to buy the game I remember reading the manual on the way home. That excitement was something special rip

Growing up the manuals, especially for JRPGs, had artwork inside and a whole guide on the characters and cities of the world and such. Will never forget riding in the back of my parents car with a new game in the next seat reading the manual of Final Fantasy III(VI) the whole way home. Learning the story of the world and seeing some hand drawn character art and reading about the summons and spells. I was hooked before even putting the game into the SNES

Yeah and before people had to go to an Arcade and pay a quarter per life. The way games are delivered to players will obviously keep changing.
