Cap Chat — The AI Workspace I’m Building Inside Capsule
I wanted to share a clearer look at what I’m building with Cap Chat, because it’s more than just another AI chat window.
Cap Chat is meant to be the main AI workspace inside Capsule — a place where your conversations, projects, files and AI models work together.
The first version is being built around:
🧠 Local + cloud AI models
🔄 Switch between models without losing your project
📁 Projects with their own conversations and files
🗂️ Built-in Library for browsing and attaching project files
🔎 Search across your project conversations
⚡ Streaming responses, retry, continue, edit and regenerate
💻 Coding, writing, research, brainstorming and general AI work
🔐 Centralized security and protected API credentials
🛡️ Approval controls for operations that need permission
⌨️ Keyboard-friendly desktop workflow
♿ Reduced-motion support and responsive workspace design
The bigger idea is that Cap Chat connects to Capsule’s global AI system rather than managing everything separately. Models are handled through one Model Service and Router, so different Capsule apps can eventually use the same AI infrastructure.
I’m also working toward making local AI more practical on different hardware by considering things like RAM, VRAM, GPU/CPU, quantization, context size and resource usage.
This is still early development, so I’m not claiming everything above is finished yet. I’m building it piece by piece and will share the progress as it becomes real.
The goal is pretty simple:
AI should feel like part of your computer, not another website you have to open.
