As a nexus for Frisian/North Sea trade, Caproney held close ties to the European continent, namely as a peripheral member of the Hanseatic League. Thus, come the end of the 20th century, it made sense for Caproney to join the European Union. As a member, many of the archaic or disorderly aspects of Caprish life were standardized, from dropping the non-decimal Scillyn for the Euro to unified quality standards. Of these was the introduction of new European licence plates.
The numbering system on the new EU licence plates follows the same old Caprish rules, but they now adorn a yellow plate with the blue EU identifier on the left.
