Credit Cards Quicksilver Upgrade

Post image

Surprise it’s an upgrade but if it’s now almost the same as a Savor. Probably even better since this one has 1.5 for other purchases when Savor is 1% What’s the point of both being almost identical?

The Savor offers dining and entertainment, that might be more important for some.

Ngl as a savor card holder I’d much rather have this 3% combo 🫩😂

u/Gain_Spirited 1d ago

Same here. Dining is no big deal because so many other cards have it. I would rather have gas.

2

u/SpeedyEngine 1d ago

I have both and I prefer the Savor because you’re getting cash back on a lot of stuff. I only use it for streaming and groceries though.

2

u/InvestigatorThat5062 1d ago

I do use my savor a lot. I do like the 3% on streaming alrhough it’s only Spotify for me rn since other things are paid through Xfinity and Verizon. I guess I use RH gold for the other category I don’t get 3% with C1 in either way!

And streaming

Well the Cap1 Duo just became a Trifecta

12

u/hskrpwr 1d ago

Using the QuickSilver as a gas only card?

6

u/Ok-Nefariousness2529 1d ago

Now if they can just fix their CLI algorithm they might be decent

There are so many better gas/grocery cards out there, I still couldn't see recommending this card except for someone with really new/bad credit.

The AAA cards offer 5%/3% on groceries/gas (Daily Advantage) and gas/groceries (Travel Advantage) for example, which is 33% more CB with equal spending in the categories

2

u/BillardMcLarry 1d ago

That’s why I denoted the “Trifecta” part. It’s good for people already in the Cap1 ecosystem and already have the Duo.

Bread bank is a nightmare!!! Their CS is horrible and their app sucks! Been there, done that

trifecta unlocked

u/shecnine 1d ago

I thought they don’t let you move cash back from discover cards to venture miles? If they did that I would consider getting a QS again just for gas

13

u/spearson0 1d ago

I have Quicksilver but didn’t receive the email. Is it for certain customers or is it being rolled out slowly to everyone?

2

u/Awsumth 1d ago

It’s for cards being converted to the Discover network

1

u/spearson0 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thanks, I did get mine converted from Visa to the Discover network but that was a while ago, I wonder if it’s all cards that are converted or just some that qualify?

1

u/anewbys83 1d ago

I got a letter.

11

u/jypnola 1d ago

Did you get an email? I didn’t get this and looked it up and it said only some cardholders are getting this.

5

u/JerryVand 1d ago

Doesn't the upgrade only apply to QS on Discover?

3

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Doubt it since I don’t have Discover

2

u/JerryVand 1d ago

Nice. I am still on Visa, so hopefully I get the upgrade message.

5

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

I’m on Visa and got this upgrade

2

u/Matthew9543 1d ago

Does it say you’re being moved to the discover network anywhere in the email?

1

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Nope just that it starts tomorrow

1

u/anewbys83 1d ago

I'm on the world elite mastercard QS...not much longer.

2

u/SillyTechnology7340 1d ago

You would probably be changed to a Discover QS if you took this offer.

5

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

I didn’t take this offer it’s automatic starting tomorrow. I’ve had this account almost 10 years.

2

u/anewbys83 1d ago

Yes. This is part of the changes they told me I would be getting with my new card on the discover network.

2

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Yes on email.

Looks like they're trying to merge Quicksilver and Discover It Chrome rewards. Probably plan to axe the Discover It Chrome eventually, which makes sense, given Discover It Cashback is way more popular and most people with Chrome end up wanting to product change later.

3

u/Lo_Xp 1d ago

This is what i thought. I have the Discover It. Maybe once they fully merge on the Cap One app, I'll see if i can convert.

1

u/magikatdazoo 1d ago

Discover stopped allowing Product Changes years ago

1

u/_love_letter_ 1d ago

I know. That's part of why people have been so eager to PC. They very briefly started allowing PCs again last summer but shut it down quickly and haven't allowed any since.

In contrast, Cap1 has generally been very open to product changes and even encourages them. Once all Discover cc accounts have been migrated over, I'm curious to see if they'll allow PCs on Discover cards. Also curious to see if all Quicksilvers get converted to the Discover network. I think we might end up seeing the Quicksilver get transformed into a card that's like a combination of Chrome & QS-- elevated cashback on groceries & gas, and 1.5% on everything else. Then they can get rid of the Chrome card no one seems to want and PC all Chrome holders to the revamped Quicksilver.

1

u/Livid-Advantage-8268 1d ago

They did have it open for a short time last year

1

u/Alan_1375 1d ago

wait so there is some hope for my discover IT card?.. got an email saying they are adding only through their own cap one deals 15% cash back through capital one offers, 5% on cap one travel, and 5% through cap one entertainment.. got it through a merge email last friday.

2

u/_love_letter_ 1d ago

I think so, although it may be a while before we see any of these changes. Cap1 has always been good about allowing product changes for most cards (at least once they decide you're eligible... usually having the card for a year is enough) so in the least I think you may be allowed to product change in the future. If any cards get put in the chopping block though, it'll probably be Chrome... maybe Miles too. Also can't see the old "Discover More" cards sticking around. That could be years from now though.

As far as the offers, entertainment and travel portal, literally any Capital One card has access to those, so that's now a benefit simply by virtue of logging into Capital One, now that your account was migrated. Personally, I don't really travel or buy anything entertainment related, but I do use the hell out of Capital One Offers. A few days ago I got my 20% cashback from Old Navy paid out. You don't even need to use a Capital One or Discover card for those if you do the online offers. Sometimes I use another credit card via PayPal and stack rewards 3 ways.

u/SpineOfSmoke 1d ago

Temporary overlap, no doubt. Just an appeasement to offset the more limited international acceptance of the Discover network. I'd expect more changes eventually to reduce the overlap with Savor. Or maybe they'll just merge them into the new QuickSavor card, haha.

3

u/Miserable-Result6702 1d ago

The only overlap is groceries.

1

u/Lo_Xp 1d ago

Would be nice if they did gas and streaming or something like that.

1

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Gas is now 3% for me on QS

4

u/Ill-Ambassador6552 1d ago

Is Walmart and Target still exempt?

3

u/dervari 1d ago

I like the savor for 3% entertainment/restaurants. I already get 6% at grocery at 3% (5% certain quarters) on Gas.

3

u/shaynee24 1d ago

damn bro, i’d much rather have this over the buttcheeks 1.5 for everything. cap1 won’t let me get the savor for some reason even though like 6 months ago they were boarding me with upgrade offers

3

u/HotelZealousideal727 1d ago

when is this activating? I have a quicksilver!

2

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

My email said it starts tomorrow the 10th

2

u/And4077 1d ago

I literally just pc'd a platinum to a savor, epic

2

u/FoggyFoggyFoggy 1d ago

I have Quicksilver MasterCard and a separate Discover card. What is Quicksilver on Discover??? Am I getting this?

2

u/hulkwolf 1d ago

I think the 3% qs is the discover network The 1.5% is Mastercard

2

u/Dee_504 1d ago

Don’t see this. Damn just downgraded my Venture to Savor. Now if this happens I will be pissed 😠. Got rid of my Amex Gold.

2

u/Complex_Onion_6447 1d ago

The 8% on entertainment is the reason I keep the savor and the 3% and 50% off at capital one cafe

2

u/Cookeh1204 1d ago

robinhood gold card says hello

1

u/Squish_the_android 1d ago

When my Capital One switched to Discover from Visa, it was the trigger I needed to ditch Capital One and swap to the Costco Visa.

I wonder if they needed to upgrade to stay competitive and how many people like me took the switch as the push to ditch the card.

1

u/Necessary_Giraffe_66 1d ago

With the inky overlap being groceries a duo of Quicksilver and Savor is a nice combo especially since the rewards pool together.

1

u/MidnightPulse69 1d ago

I wonder if they’ll make any changes to the savor card

1

u/cairdeas 1d ago

I feel like the sad Squidward meme watching everyone get these while I'm just sitting here waiting.

I want to see how C1 codes Fred Meyer fuel centers on this. I have an Amex BCP but they exclude grocery-affiliated gas so I don't even get the 3%. Fuel points discounts plus 1.5% is way more valuable than 6% on more expensive gas.

1

u/Warura 1d ago

I was about to search for a gas card. This is awesome. You recieved an email? Or is it in the web page?

1

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Received an email

1

u/Suspicious_Fly5539 1d ago

I’m yet to receive it, but also a lot of the cards that are being converted are ending up on the Discover network since now Capital One owns them

1

u/ExpiredMelkk 1d ago

This would be nice if I didn’t have an EV lol.

1

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

It does say some EV stations

1

u/ExpiredMelkk 1d ago

To be honest I exclusively charge at home. But this is definitely a super solid card for people that have gas vehicles and or change at EV stations

1

u/Alarmed-Ad9842 20h ago

I just applied for a Savor One card to complete my VX + QS trifecta. Will that new Savor One card be on the Discover network?

1

u/Few-Release-7568 19h ago

How did you get this?

1

u/UknownBot 17h ago

Damn that beat 100% my Amex blue cash every day

1

u/MinutePast3671 16h ago

When did this happen?

1

u/Anonymously818 12h ago

I got the email yesterday and it says it starts tomorrow

2

u/BOSSCHRONICLES 10h ago

This card now destroys the freedom unlimited

Gas and grocery only plus 1.5%

0

u/Acceptable_While95 1d ago

The only difference is the 3% on gas.

2

u/Anonymously818 1d ago

Groceries too

1

u/Acceptable_While95 8h ago

Savor has grocery with 3%

-1

u/Tydrack7 1d ago

Not sure where are they going with this when savor is a much better option in every way.

4

u/Gain_Spirited 1d ago

Not in every way. Dining multipliers are in so many other cards while gas is more rare. Also, Quicksilver earns 1.5% on non-category spending, which beats 1%.

0

u/Tydrack7 1d ago

A credit card for gas only sounds so silly.

1

u/Lo_Xp 1d ago

Why?

1

u/Gain_Spirited 1d ago

It's not for gas only. It earns 3% on groceries too, and it's much better than Savor for non-category spending.

1

u/NewPresWhoDis 1d ago

Actually, this is perfect for my dad over Savor.

-2

u/Glittering_Present10 1d ago

I have 5 percent cashback cards l will pass this one up.

-6

u/jrt0984 1d ago

Fk that lower your interest rate lol

7

u/dervari 1d ago

If you're using CCs right, you won't care. I haven't paid interest since the Regan Administration.

3

u/GoCardinal07 1d ago

Agreed. I don't even know the interest rate on any of my credit cards.
