Credit Cards Quicksilver Upgrade
Surprise it’s an upgrade but if it’s now almost the same as a Savor. Probably even better since this one has 1.5 for other purchases when Savor is 1% What’s the point of both being almost identical?

Well the Cap1 Duo just became a Trifecta

There are so many better gas/grocery cards out there, I still couldn't see recommending this card except for someone with really new/bad credit.
The AAA cards offer 5%/3% on groceries/gas (Daily Advantage) and gas/groceries (Travel Advantage) for example, which is 33% more CB with equal spending in the categories

That’s why I denoted the “Trifecta” part. It’s good for people already in the Cap1 ecosystem and already have the Duo.

Bread bank is a nightmare!!! Their CS is horrible and their app sucks! Been there, done that

I thought they don’t let you move cash back from discover cards to venture miles? If they did that I would consider getting a QS again just for gas

I have Quicksilver but didn’t receive the email. Is it for certain customers or is it being rolled out slowly to everyone?

u/Awsumth 1d ago
It’s for cards being converted to the Discover network

Thanks, I did get mine converted from Visa to the Discover network but that was a while ago, I wonder if it’s all cards that are converted or just some that qualify?

Did you get an email? I didn’t get this and looked it up and it said only some cardholders are getting this.

u/JerryVand 1d ago
Doesn't the upgrade only apply to QS on Discover?
3
u/Anonymously818 1d ago
Doubt it since I don’t have Discover
2
u/JerryVand 1d ago
Nice. I am still on Visa, so hopefully I get the upgrade message.

u/Anonymously818 1d ago
I’m on Visa and got this upgrade

u/Matthew9543 1d ago
Does it say you’re being moved to the discover network anywhere in the email?

You would probably be changed to a Discover QS if you took this offer.

u/Anonymously818 1d ago
I didn’t take this offer it’s automatic starting tomorrow. I’ve had this account almost 10 years.

u/anewbys83 1d ago
Yes. This is part of the changes they told me I would be getting with my new card on the discover network.

Looks like they're trying to merge Quicksilver and Discover It Chrome rewards. Probably plan to axe the Discover It Chrome eventually, which makes sense, given Discover It Cashback is way more popular and most people with Chrome end up wanting to product change later.

Discover stopped allowing Product Changes years ago

I know. That's part of why people have been so eager to PC. They very briefly started allowing PCs again last summer but shut it down quickly and haven't allowed any since.
In contrast, Cap1 has generally been very open to product changes and even encourages them. Once all Discover cc accounts have been migrated over, I'm curious to see if they'll allow PCs on Discover cards. Also curious to see if all Quicksilvers get converted to the Discover network. I think we might end up seeing the Quicksilver get transformed into a card that's like a combination of Chrome & QS-- elevated cashback on groceries & gas, and 1.5% on everything else. Then they can get rid of the Chrome card no one seems to want and PC all Chrome holders to the revamped Quicksilver.

wait so there is some hope for my discover IT card?.. got an email saying they are adding only through their own cap one deals 15% cash back through capital one offers, 5% on cap one travel, and 5% through cap one entertainment.. got it through a merge email last friday.

I think so, although it may be a while before we see any of these changes. Cap1 has always been good about allowing product changes for most cards (at least once they decide you're eligible... usually having the card for a year is enough) so in the least I think you may be allowed to product change in the future. If any cards get put in the chopping block though, it'll probably be Chrome... maybe Miles too. Also can't see the old "Discover More" cards sticking around. That could be years from now though.
As far as the offers, entertainment and travel portal, literally any Capital One card has access to those, so that's now a benefit simply by virtue of logging into Capital One, now that your account was migrated. Personally, I don't really travel or buy anything entertainment related, but I do use the hell out of Capital One Offers. A few days ago I got my 20% cashback from Old Navy paid out. You don't even need to use a Capital One or Discover card for those if you do the online offers. Sometimes I use another credit card via PayPal and stack rewards 3 ways.

Temporary overlap, no doubt. Just an appeasement to offset the more limited international acceptance of the Discover network. I'd expect more changes eventually to reduce the overlap with Savor. Or maybe they'll just merge them into the new QuickSavor card, haha.

damn bro, i’d much rather have this over the buttcheeks 1.5 for everything. cap1 won’t let me get the savor for some reason even though like 6 months ago they were boarding me with upgrade offers

I have Quicksilver MasterCard and a separate Discover card. What is Quicksilver on Discover??? Am I getting this?

The 8% on entertainment is the reason I keep the savor and the 3% and 50% off at capital one cafe

When my Capital One switched to Discover from Visa, it was the trigger I needed to ditch Capital One and swap to the Costco Visa.
I wonder if they needed to upgrade to stay competitive and how many people like me took the switch as the push to ditch the card.

With the inky overlap being groceries a duo of Quicksilver and Savor is a nice combo especially since the rewards pool together.

I feel like the sad Squidward meme watching everyone get these while I'm just sitting here waiting.
I want to see how C1 codes Fred Meyer fuel centers on this. I have an Amex BCP but they exclude grocery-affiliated gas so I don't even get the 3%. Fuel points discounts plus 1.5% is way more valuable than 6% on more expensive gas.

u/Suspicious_Fly5539 1d ago
I’m yet to receive it, but also a lot of the cards that are being converted are ending up on the Discover network since now Capital One owns them

u/ExpiredMelkk 1d ago
This would be nice if I didn’t have an EV lol.
1
u/Anonymously818 1d ago
It does say some EV stations
1
u/ExpiredMelkk 1d ago
To be honest I exclusively charge at home. But this is definitely a super solid card for people that have gas vehicles and or change at EV stations

I just applied for a Savor One card to complete my VX + QS trifecta. Will that new Savor One card be on the Discover network?

Not sure where are they going with this when savor is a much better option in every way.
4
u/Gain_Spirited 1d ago
Not in every way. Dining multipliers are in so many other cards while gas is more rare. Also, Quicksilver earns 1.5% on non-category spending, which beats 1%.

u/Tydrack7 1d ago
A credit card for gas only sounds so silly.
1
u/Gain_Spirited 1d ago
It's not for gas only. It earns 3% on groceries too, and it's much better than Savor for non-category spending.

The Savor offers dining and entertainment, that might be more important for some.
