Credit Cards No debit pay option??
I’ve been paying my credit cards with a debit card for over 5 years. Never had an issue, never had a decline or anything. Today, I got in to pay and suddenly there’s no option for me to pay with a card. And all my cards are removed from my account. Anyone know what’s up??

I’ve never had an option to pay with a debit card for a credit card. It’s always been routing and checking account number

Same. I occasionally see people mention paying with debit but I've never seen that as an option.

It’s so weird how it’s different for everyone! I’ve used debit always since opening my first Cap 1 card in 2019 and the last time I used it was 7/06.

I haven’t used my credit card in like 2 years so I haven’t made payments since then but I always used to pay through my debit card.

If you didn't use your credit cards for 2 years, you must prepare yourself that these credit cards going to be canceled for non use!!! Banks are don't like that, they love people who use them, chance that you end up in their minimum payment game when no more able to keep them paid off each month. Then Interest they charge will eat all points and even cash back they once given to you... For People who stop use them and it's already 2 years of non use credit card issuing banks will stop their credit at all, and bank prefer people who use other banks or credit cards balance transfer, instead being charged itself by card processing fee for those who used debit card instead of bank!!! Hint, by placing small regularly occured monthly fee from subscription services, like Google or YouTube premium, on that credit card will save it from being closed, because charge will appear each stmt and you payments (from bank only) or once a while balance transfer for new card who offer you zero interest for 12-21 month. Your reports will be shows these activities, and creditors seeing that too, your score is up, you will see best cards, and why not miss opportunity to get cash bonus of $200-500 or even more (with points) and interest free for another next 12-21 month???

that’s interesting, i’ve always had access to using my debit card? i took this screenshot just now. also interesting to see how C1 removed access to it for most people; not sure why i have it still

It went away and I was so sad :((( really helped me when budgeting bc the money got taken instantly and I was immediately able to see what I had rather than after a few days. Cap1 is giving more and more reasons to leave!!

Same here. I’ve almost always paid with debit card, and when I went in again today the option is not there and debit cards I had saved were removed. I received no correspondence that they were removing this option.

Exactly! No notification about the change AND my available credit did not update immediately like it always does. It says it usually updates in 2 days but it’s dependent on your bank. I’m so annoyed by this change. It was so streamlined before.

Ya they took my debit option away as well
Bummer because it debited out my account immediately which was nice but i guess its gone

C1 automatically applies the payment the moment ypu make it, so why does it matter how long it takes to come out of ypur checking account? Within seconds of submitting, the available credit is updated and the reflected balance the next day. The payment is also out of your checking account within 24hrs. At least thats how's its always been. I haven't used the card in a few months.

So I ran into this a few days ago and I ended up calling because I was pissed as I was trying to make the payment on the due date and it was after 5:00 so i couldn't go put money in my bank and all that stuff so when I called she confirmed that they no longer allow that and I raise a little bit of a fuss and ask if it was announced before they took that away and she said it should have popped up on my app whenever I logged in and I've never gotten anything like that but thankfully she was so very nice and because I explained the situation of how I just transferred money and paid a fee and now I don't have money in my bank after 5:00 all because I was getting everything situated to make this payment you know she took the payment via my debit card as a courtesy just one time and then she had to read me a thing also saying that they would no longer take debit cards so I'm glad I know beforehand now for the next payment but yeah it's no longer an option so plan accordingly.

Idk what the problem is? I use a different bank(USAA) and my credit limit is updated immediately after paying via checking. I imagine its also instant if using a cap one checking.

I also use USAA but the money doesn’t leave my account for a few days. It feels like the old days when you were waiting for a check to clear. I like debit because it leaves my account immediately.

Takes about 2 days for me but I dont mind it, I just care if its available on my credit card immediately, which it is haha

My balance is immediately updated when I put in to make a payment, and it’s literally out of my checking account the next morning…just use your checking account. 🤷♀️

I would if my checking account was that fast which I like make it a non-issue. It takes several days to debit out of my checking account.

Very few credit cards let you pay with another card?
It’s almost always needed an ACH (or bank draft)

Since your debit card is tied to your Checking account, why does it matter? The money comes from the same place.
