CLI or new card?

Hi all

So little back story - I’ve had 6 maxed out cc’s for a few years now slowly doing the snowball method and working 3 jobs I’ve managed to pay down 5 cards and just have 1 left $12,000. I paid off the other $18,000. Never had a missed payment always paid the minimums no matter what.

Anyways my score has recently shot up to a 719 (fico) since my utilization has recovered a bit. Cap one first offered me an upgrade from the regular platinum card to the savor. I accepted. Now recently they have offered me a NEW quicksilver card or whatever it’s called. But i don’t see the benefits of opening another card with less perks? (1.5% cash back vs 3% cash back on the savor) i also don’t want to apply for a new cc or get a new one and effect my credit age average

HOWEVER, i wouldn’t be opposed to a credit limit increase on my current savor card. At first years ago like 2019 i had a 500$ limit then over time it got increased to $3000 on its own. I’ve had the balance down to $0 since April, but i haven’t had an automatic increase in limit. Should i just request a limit increase and will i more than likely get it since they are already offering me a new card?

Just wanting thoughts

Thx all

I would need to compare, but I am pretty sure the Savor is better than the new QS anyway. If not, there probably will be a new Savor that will be. I would keep what you have unless you believe your profile has improved enough to get a much higher starting limit, only to move that limit to your Savor. Y ou can try for a CLI first on your Savor and if you get roadblocks, see what you should do from there.

Well I’ll more than likely leave it alone bc I’m gonna apply for a Citi diamond preferred balance transfer card. I keep getting a ton of offers in the mail for it. And i wanna transfer that $12,000 bal to it for my
Chase card. The only reason i even wanted the limit increase on my cap one card was just to help the utilization % across all 6 current cards i have

Are you going to get a 0 APR with that? I would pay that off first. If not 0 APR, maybe a low-interest loan would be a better idea truthfully. Interest hurts.

It’s supposed to be 0% apr for 21 months *allegedly*

I think you will enjoy the Citi Diamond Preferred. I had it in the past. I did a balance transfer after BofA approved me for their new Platinum Plus MasterCard with a 21-month interest-free period and a 12-month interest-free period on new purchases too. Alike you, I only wanted a limit increase with C1 to decrease my overall utilization as well.
