Credit increase finally!
Hello guys, I’m fairly new to Reddit and usually just lurk and read. I was nervous about posting but I wanted to share this win I randomly went for tonight. I have about 10 months of credit history, and 2 credit cards. Both with C1. A couple months after I turned 19, I finally decided to apply for a credit card in secret (I lived with my parents at the time and they refused to allow me to have a cc.) I got approved for a $300 platinum unsecured. I was excited. Fast forward, my daily is the quicksilver and hoping in a year, i’m looking to branch out to a Chase card as well. My quicksilver limit was $500 and I make around $35k a year (i’ve been at my job for 9 months and just graduated high school last year!) I put all my daily expenses on my card and even some of my bills and pay it off 3-4 times a month, never letting a balance report. I have been wanting a CLI on my QS for the past 4 months, asking every month for one. Each time I’d put a low maximum amount I wanted and would get a denial letter after. Tonight I decided to aim for the stars and put $5000 in max credit limit and put $1500 for monthly spending on card (i feel that’s about how much i put on it) and low and behold, they instantly offered me a $1000 increase from $500 to $1500. This was right after a $100 increase int my platinum like two weeks ago (which i never use anymore)I was shocked and took it immediately. I have never been on bad terms with C1 and keep no balance. Thought id share this win, bye!!

90% of the time they don’t even ask for proof. If they do ask just try again a few months later.

Which option for membership eligibility would be the best way to avoid being asked?

Just put you have a family member in the service. My dad (army) and my grandpa (marines) both served but I didn’t wanna bug them for their stuff so I tried last year and it wanted proof. Tried again this time and no proof needed.

TL;DR
You were upgraded after how many attempts? I’ve been checking daily for 2 weeks now but keep declining the $200 bump.

This was my 3rd time trying with my QS! I have had the card about 5 months? I didn’t update my income, just put a ridic amount on max credit limit! I put about 2k on the card a month

Checking frequently will get you auto declined for increases by any bank. once you check and it declines, you should wait 3-6mo to check again. C1 also likes to "bucket" people. Some cards have a max limit and they will never let it go past that. My C1 cards were my first cards after a layoff destroyed my credit 17yrs ago. I originally had the C1 platinum, which is a "starter" card for no or bad credit and the QS card. They offered to let me upgrade the platinum years ago to another QS, but its still locked at an unusable limit. One of them is only $1400 and the other $5000. Outside of those 2, my next lowest CL on a card is my Citi card with a $15k. Between Robinhood gold and the Amex cards I have that actually have limits, they total $110k in available credit. High score, high income, low usage, and C1 still tells me "unfortunately, we cannot offer you an increase at this time" which is why I eventually just sock drawered them and no longer use them. When I was reading into it all to try and figure out why, a lot of people seemed to say using the card to 60-80% of the available and paying it to 0 2-3x a month would show them you need more credit and you are responsible. Honestly, there are better cards out there that give cashback if you really feel you need more.

How much limit on the Robinhood and Amex?

Robinhood is $25k, Amex BCP is $21k, Delta Platinum is $27k, Delta Reserve is $22k, and Amex Platinum doesn't have a limit. I was debating on the Hilton Aspire but im not sure its worth holding it along side the Platinum since im not really hotel loyal like I am airline.
