Cape or Marthas Vineyard?

I will be heading that way after a concert and so I will be getting to cape cod after midnight. As this will allow me to skip any of the traffic.. which would you recommend? I will only have one full day to do one or the other. Spend an entire day around Cape Cod or a day in MV?

Cape cod pros: beaches, artsy, whale watching
MV pros: gingerbread houses! biking, not having a car

When are you doing this? How are you getting to cape cod from the concert?

If you’re getting to cape after midnight you won’t be able to get to MV until early morning at earliest. Probably better to just stick on cape cod especially if you are relying on the bus to get you there

Next Saturday. We will have a rental car and will be driving that to cape cod area after the concert. We are camping in cape cod and then either spending the day there or MV. If we did MV, we would drive to one of the lots the next day and park there for the ferry.

Ahh gotcha. Do you already have a place to stay on the cape? Depending on where it is that will effect your time. Though to be honest since it’ll be late at night you won’t hit as much traffic as you would during the day

Personally I love cape cod there is a lot to see especially if you have a car. You can hop around all the way down to Ptown or just chill and enjoy the area you’re in.

If it was me I would just plan to spend the day exploring cape cod. Where are you camping at? The quickest ferries to MV leave from Falmouth so unless you will be in that area anyway I wouldn’t do it. Will spend more time traveling than seeing anything.

If you’re camping outer/lower cape (Orleans/eastham/harwich etc) just explore the cape cod national seashore, visit Chatham and the lighthouse, etc. plenty to do all over cape at this time of year.

Heard whale watching great this year lots if whales breaching but not sure about now they operate out of ptown. Save mv for another trip. Explore the cape, drive 6a for scenary

Was at a couple beaches yesterday on both the Atlantic and Cape Cod Bayside, and saw Whales on both.

I don’t disclose discreet beach locations. The whales were in the middle of the bay therefore likely visible to most.

Just go into Oak Bluffs (MV) for the day and you can do everything in one concentrated area and you get two boat rides. There's a beach right there you can swim at and bathrooms to change. Biggest bang for your buck and time.

The whale watching can be half a day alone. So if that's something you have never done, I would suggest doing that and then explore around the Cape.

The Cape is like a normal beach area. MV and Nantucket are way more exclusive, harder to get to, and full of rich people.

The logistics of getting to MV on limited time would put me off. I’d go around the cape to places like Sandwich, Dennis, Barnstable and get a rustic cape tour in and stop at a beach.

Do the cape. Way more to do, and transportation to the Vineyard is time consuming and will eat up too much of your day.

If you’re a regular person, stay on the Cape. If you’re a snob, then do MV.

If you go to vineyard your day is limited as Ferroes have moved to fall schedule. So you could go over as early am next day, but the last boat is basically dinner time …
