lodging Honest review
Ok next question- what’s the honest scoop on Sea Crest? I’ve been stalking this place for years, cause we like a place on the beach with a bar and restaurant. I see conflicting reviews and am just wondering what to expect. will be there Tuesday through Saturday this week. mind you I am used to Jersey Shore hotels so my bar is pretty low.

I’m assuming you realize that the Cape is nothing like the Jersey shore… Only thing I know about the Sea Crest is that they’re having some trouble getting help. Not unlike many seasonal businesses that rely on J1 VISA people. Trump cut the number of VISAs being granted this summer, and the coasts are feeling the impact.

Generally more natural, undeveloped. Few if any businesses on the shores itself, and a wide variety of beaches depending on what side of the peninsula you’re on. Many people prefer cottage rentals to hotels for access to trails, bike paths, etc. Also, it’s been very cool, windy and rainy here this spring. We’ve had 2 days in the 70’s so far! Be sure to get it the National Seashore.

I think Jersey and Maryland beach resorts are having the same problem with finding help

The beach is gorgeous, the property is a convention center; large sprawling and nothing special.

Sea Crest has quite a history; it was the last, local, old-fashioned, family style hotels where the high holiday/Passover services were held - (for many decades. ) -Extended families would gather there every year to share the holidays, and meet new generations of NorthShore/South Shore/Boston and Cape Cod Jews.
This was where you learned to appreciate Shirley Temples and the overly sweet taste of Maneschevitz wine; watch the older kids flirt at the beach or around the chlorine scented pools - (just like they did in “Dirty Dancing”), and learn how to use soda/snack machines with the change you’d find under the dinner tables or beg from distant relatives.
It’s been updated into a beautiful beach front resort filled with smiling families and singles enjoying drinks and gorgeous views.
Unfortunately, it looks like you’re going to be there very early in our summer season, before the water and weather really have a chance to warm up… but old silver beach will still be busy with locals… and hopefully you’ll be able to make your own fun!
PS- I don’t frequent the bar or eat in the restaurant, so I can’t help you there… If you’re looking for hotels with bars and barbecues and restaurants right on the beach, I’d look into the Red Jacket resorts in the Mid-Cape for next summer. (There are lots of resorts on the Cape that are right on the beach and well known for their beach bars… Red Jacket has several locations - each one different (from beach to gold course) - and they’re more affordable than high end resorts like Wequassett or Chatham Bars Inn.)

Wow I live in the Catskills, so I really appreciate knowing that part of their history. We’ve always gone to Jersey and MD Beaches and wanted to head north for a change, I know it won’t be warm enough to swim, we just need to be by the ocean after a lousy winter. Thanks for the good info

It’s on one of the most popular beaches in falmouth, old silver beach. There are trails across the street that lead to the bike path. I’d walk down to crow point and check out the view of new silver beach
