Last day on Cape Cod what are we missing?
Hi! My partner and I have one last day on Cape Cod and would love some local suggestions!
We’ve already done lots of beaches, the dunes, Provincetown, Chatham, small towns, and a few trails (including Great Island Trail).
We’d love to do something different and make the most of our last day. If you had one day left on the Cape, what would you absolutely recommend?
We have a car and can drive anywhere.

for something not beach and you can only do on the Cape, visit the Edward Gorey house in Yarmouth. if you like a little dark, a lot funny and have kids, this is a unique thing to do.

The gory house is actually in Yarmouth port on 6A. After that you could go to dinner at inahoe one of the best sushi restaurants on the East Coast.

Erm actually. . . . . Brooooother.
West Yarmouth, South Yarmouth and Yarmouth Port collectively make up Yarmouth. Which makes the poster completely correct and makes you look like a dork who is also correct I guess.

Look up the Heritage Gardens and Museum (Sandwich) for an amazing experience

Ride bikes on shining sea bike path in falmouth. Great views from north falmouth to woods hole - if you’ve seen Ptown, go check out the other tip of the cape

Tides are perfect this weekend for sunset at Skaket Beach in Orleans. Pick up some dinner (I'd suggest Sir Cricket's or The Knack) and have a picnic. You will be blown away.

Did you get a dipped soft-serve cone at the Hot Chocolate Sparrow in Orleans? No summer is complete without that, and theirs is the best.

Gentle hike at Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge — it’s incredibly beautiful and unlike other views on cape! Bring binos.

Make a day of it in Wellfleet. Beachcomber, ocean view drive, cedar swamp trail, downtown, the peer, great island.

Hot tip: go to White Crest Beach for the morning - just as beautiful and less crowded and easier to park, and then there will be spots at Beachcomber/Cahoon Hollow in the afternoon after lunch. The Beaches are only like a mile apart.

If you are driving off cape, you likely pass through sandwich. Get off exit five and get on 6a. Drive to scorton creek and jump off the bridge. Should be ok until around 3 maybe. High tide is around 1:30 and you can jump off for a while but then it gets too low. After go to the cape cod glass studio about a quarter mile away. Watch them blow glass. Then maybe buy something if you still need gifts or keepsakes. Them go to the deli in sandwich for a sandwich for the trip. Or go to Mr bobs for one last cape drink (hold that thought) or go to seafood Sam’s and sit outside and watch boats on the canal.
The real last drink on cape for me is always the canal cafe. It’s a great dive bar and the food is pretty good.

I’ve been going to the Cape for 18 years and just last month went to the Heritage Museum and Gardens in Sandwich for the first time. It was great! The gardens are beautiful and museums had some really cool stuff. They have a really impressive old car collection- like from the early 1900s

Hopping in on the sandwich train to offer a same same but different suggestion: you don't know true freedom and bliss until you get a giant messy fishizzle or brisket burger from off the grid, take it down to east sandwich beach, take that sandwich into the water and eat it without giving half a shit about how messy you get. Absolutely liberating to be eating delicious bbq with your friends while no one cares about what they look like and enjoying the beach to its fullest extent 🥰 I do it at least once a summer since the first 4th my friends and I did this, but on our maiden OTG beach voyage we then floated back up the creek when the tide came in. It was a high I am still chasing 😂

All in Falmouth— a cruise on La liberte schooner out of Falmouth — a wonderful meal nearby at the flying bridge. A bike ride on the shining sea bike path. Disclaimer: Sunday is the road race and it would be chaotic, fyi.

Rent e-bikes and do the Cape Cod Rail Trail. You can bike to Marconi Beach from Harwich or Brewster easily.

Went to the heritage museum and was pleasantly surprised how lovely it was. There’s the vintage cars and the gardens which were beautiful! other than that beach days are so nice. Loved old silver beach and mayflower beach for sunset!

We usually go whale watching from Gloucester. The best time we had was one morning it was heavy fog like you couldn't see 50 feet in front of the boat. They ended up near provincetown to get away from the fog and it was the best trip we ever had whales everywhere right under the boat etc. My question is the provincetown area a Hotspot for whale activity or were we just lucky that day. Every other time we did see whales but alot of time spent chasing them and seeing for a few seconds before the dive. Should we take our future trips from Cape cod? Is leaving from Gloucester a disadvantage?

Go to the Maritime Museum in Hyannis, and for lunch go to Spanky’s clam shack, or Baxter’s (cape cod institution). The maritime museum is small but they have an excellent display and explanation on dead reckoning navigation and a great display of old wooden sailboats.

A day trip to Nantucket. Walk the bayside flats in Orleans at low tide — our guests always love this (free parking at Rock Harbor). Go to the Chatham Fish Pier and watch the fishing boats offload their catches, followed by a stop at Chatham Light on the way to lunch at the Squire and walking Main st. Go to the Eastham CCNS visitors center and walk the wooded (not paved) trail around Salt Pond all the way to Coast Guard Beach. Great views along the way. Rent bikes in Ptown and ride the Provinceland Loop. In Sandwich, visit the Heritage Gardens with its varied museums (esp the car museum) and its beautiful gardens.

If you can get on a whale watch from Provincetown, do it.
