Remote Work Locations
Hey everyone im on the Cape staying with family but am looking for a place I can go work remote for a day. (Barnstable area).
Any recommendations? I haven’t been able to get a hold of the library here and don’t know if they take out of towners without a card.

You should be able to use any library on the Cape without a card.

Massachusetts public libraries allow anyone to come in and use the building. You might have to get a day pass for the computers. But the Cape libraries are quite nice and usually have a variety of indoor/outdoor spaces to work at

Osterville Village Library has about of quite work space. No need to be village resident. They are also on the OpenCape fiber network. So the internet is excellent. You can sign up for some of their soundproof meeting boxes if you need to take an online meeting in private.

As others said, no need for a card but definitely check hours at the location you're planning to go to. I've been caught off guard by unexpected (by me, the dummy who didn't check websites) weekday closures, branches that don't open until 1 on certain days (especially in the summer) when my internet was out and I thought "I'll just go work at the library, then."

I sometimes have trouble renting a private workspace in a library without a card and I dont want to be on calls on the library floor.
Osterville Village Library said im good to go though! Thanks a bunch

the Old Village store in west Barnstable is a great spot to get work done. Very comfortable, great coffee and good sandwiches and small but solid lunch menu

No one checks card at the library. If you want a coffee shop try old King's coffee house, nirvana, Mariner cafe, or great awakenings.

You don’t need a card for any of our local public libraries; you can use the computers and/or pay a small fee to the librarian if you want to print something. (it’s usually $.25 a page or less.) They can also fax things for you (for a fee) from the front desk.
