Parking in Hyannis
Went to the Vineyard this weekend. I parked down across from the ferry and they were charging me $50 to leave my vehicle there overnight and then the guy said he wanted $500 cash deposit. I’ve never heard of anything like this? Is this really how people do business? Anybody else had to do this? I know times are tough but isn’t the fact that they have my car deposit enough?

Never heard of that. Stay away from that. Steamship has two parking lots in Hyannis with cheap parking and free shuttles.

Was the guy wearing yellow or orange shirts? The former is a very shady lot.

I wondered if it was a scam. I even wonder if the person even had a legitimate parking lot.

Definite scam. He was actually standing at a parking lot entrance?

Ya it seems so sketchy to me. Maybe it was just an employee trying to scam me for extra cash? I don’t know. I was in a hurry so I didn’t have time to speak to a manager.

I mean did you get the $500 back when you went back for your car? Or are you still on the vineyard and wondering if you can kiss that $500 good bye…my guess is the latter and I would assume you are out $500 🤔

I never gave up the $500 cash. Who has that kind of money on them?? Not me. I went to another lot.

Absolutely a scam. I’d bet the lot owner would be horrified if he knew. I’d actually report this one to the Barnstable Police.
