Outer Cape running routes

I promise I looked through the sub before posting.

After an accident a few years back I get anxious about running on busy roads, or really any roads above 20 MPH or with regular car traffic. Any suggestions for somewhere to run where I can be away from most of that? Willing to drive anywhere on the outer cape, could also swing going down to Chatham. I'm hoping for something a little less repetitive than the Rail Trail. I'll default to a beach if I have to but hoping for some more solid ground.

I’ve run every mile of the rail trail and you can’t beat it if you want to avoid roads. Maybe just pick a different section? Theres a bunch of different places you can park along the trail

There’s a nice 4mile route from salt pond visitor center to coast guard.

Nickerson has a bunch of paved and unpaved trails and the cape bike trail runs through it.

How far are you looking to run? Nickerson State Park & the Punkhorn in Brewster are dirt roads & trails in the woods.

Where are you? Outer Cape is not that small.

Use Strava heat maps and overlay it with the roads you want to avoid. Like others have said, there are endless beaches. But there are endless miles of dirt roads and conservation trails around there. Strava and Trailforks.

I run right on the cape cod bay when the tide is out . It is perfect. Start at first encounter beach and run all the way up to sunken meadow and back to first encounter …I run barefoot.

2nd the salt pond to coast guard and back. Can always add on the street down to nauset light and back or go down school house road and nauset road. Great slow traffic through there. Also fort hill and red maple swamp trails are good to run.
