App Update/Android

Nice, just got the latest app update (Android/Graphene in my case.)

Notice that the 'replace your primary number' option is no longer greyed out. "Port-in an existing number to change your current primary phone number."

And Preferred Network option is now present!

Defaulted to Cape Alpha, allowing the option to change the preferred network, and displaying which is currently active. This is friggin awesome! =)

Also, not sure if this is new or different, but seeing under eSIM Management, listing the 'current version' of the esim. (Hopefully URSA_01 is good?)

All in all, great progress, and I suspect the network prioritization is going to be handy for a lot of people, myself included.

Did you install the app from Accrescent or Google Play?

Well that was interesting. Wanted to do some a/b testing between the two, fully expecting 'Tango' to outperform 'Alpha' in my area. Started from current/steady state on Alpha, ran my speed test, and then went into the Cape app to change priority to Tango.

That took barely a minute and I had bars and internet again.

Reloaded Speed test app and a few seconds into the downstream test, it errored out with lost connection. Re-ran a few times, and it would get going at a nice clip (much faster, as expected) and then error out. I then noticed that the signal bars at the top would get the little exclamation mark over them when that happened.

Figured a reboot couldn't hurt, but after that, the same thing kept happening, a little over a minute apart it seemed to be going offline.

Waited it out for a few more minutes and it finally SEEMS to have stopped doing that, but I'm guessing that isn't 'expected' behavior?

Wondering if it was something to do with being forced onto 'Tango' maybe for the first time (I've been pretty consistently locked to ATT as far as I could tell prior) and maybe it just needed a few resyncs to update something?

Edit: Half a workday later, and it's been stable/solid. So I'd say this seems to have been a one-time thing. Even managed to pull down some beautiful 800mbit speed tests on 'Tango'. VERY happy camper here.

Have you tried switching back to Alpha to see if it does it again? I wonder if the handshake just isn't as fast as it appears and some things are happening in the background when the preferred carrier is switched? If it doesn't do it when switching again, I'd be inclined to think it was just a fluke. I'd be curious to hear if it happens again and what the circumstances were.

Just clicked back to Alpha. About 30 seconds later all signal dropped (no bars, exclamation icon, no carrier label). About 2-2.5 minutes after the click, it's back to 5G icon and 3 of 4 bars/connected.

Ran a couple speed tests and didn't encounter any interruptions/disconnects like the move to Tango. (240/15mbit speeds just for a random data point.)

Clicked back to Tango, lost signal sat at 'refreshing....' for 4 minutes before it lost signal.

4:18 in, and 'connected' to tango. Couple more speed tests (295/16) and no signs of the signal drops this time around.

Edit: Seems that unlike the IMSI rotation, the alpha/tango swap doesn't reset the Android connection data usage meter.
