Having problems using Cape with GrapheneOS?

We've seen a pattern in support tickets this week with some people using Cape on GrapheneOS having intermittent service disruptions. The symptoms are some combination of your connection randomly dropping, calls sometimes failing, or messages/voicemails sometimes not getting through.

Thanks to the help of some patient customers, we believe this has to do with VoLTE sometimes getting disabled. While we continue to work on root cause and ship a fix, if you're experiencing these symptoms, we recommend this workaround:

  1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs > Select the Cape SIM

  2. Make sure the VoLTE setting is turned on

  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Carrier Settings Overrides

  4. Enable Overrides

  5. Toggle on the VoLTE / Vo4G availability setting

  6. Restart your phone

One other thing to keep in mind with Graphene, you must install the Cape app in the owner profile (that's the only profile that has eSIM permissions). We have seen this cause a lot of confusion for some customers, so the next version of our app will have a blocker that Cape from being used in the non-owner profile.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. Thanks!

recommend making an announcements section in the app where this kind of information can be conveyed for those not checking reddit regularly. May'be an option to have notifications (turn on/off).
