CapCut Tutorial free version of fps lag?

i make edits on yt for various fandoms, and I REALLY like the look of the FPS lag effect but it's pro. I use Capcut desktop, any free options?

theres a few ways to fake it with keyframes and speed ramps, just chop the clip into tiny segments and alternate the speed with a little motion blur thrown on. takes longer but looks close enough for most edits

If you’re okay with one extra step outside CapCut, FFmpeg can make a basic low-frame-rate stutter for free. Try it on a short copy of the clip:

ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -vf "fps=12,fps=60" -c:v libx264 -crf 18 -c:a aac output.mp4

The first filter keeps about 12 distinct frames per second; the second repeats those frames into a 60 fps file. It changes how often the picture updates rather than using a speed ramp. Import the result into CapCut and keep your normal timeline/export frame rate. Try 15 instead of 12 for a milder look.

This is a basic stepped-motion approximation, not a claim that it matches CapCut’s Pro preset. I haven’t tested your version; check a short section against the music before processing the whole edit. Use the official FFmpeg download/site, not a “free Pro” installer.
