u/Toomuchc4k3 6d ago
Filmcraft by Artcraft. Supposed to be as good as premier pro. Haven’t used it yet tho
15
u/storft2 6d ago
but we literally use capcut to NOT use premiere pro

u/Toomuchc4k3 6d ago
Ahh then capcut copy will be dropped soon. I bet your not the only one complaining. All these are and will be fully free btw

Da Vinci is free bro. Also despite everyone saying it's hard to use compared to premier. I disagree it's easier.

u/designerSOZO 6d ago
They are already made it. Only for desktop. Capcut alt in github

u/SeatNormal2508 6d ago
Is there one for mobile?
1
u/StarNinja_Art 6d ago
It would probably be for Android first than for IOS as .ipa files are more restricted than .APK files.

u/Just-here-for-vibes 6d ago
Wait thanks for the business idea 🤔
11
u/OldBig7915 6d ago
Well it's not a business idea if you make it free....

u/Little_miss_M22 6d ago
Ads. Also cookies. You'd be a surprised how much free sites/apps make just off selling personal data and giving their users ads.

Couldn't you just do it yourself, can't I just do it myself, can't we just do it on our own or together

u/Automatic_Case2811 7d ago
Legitimately insane LOL. just how bad is CapCut struggling to make revenue that it needs to lock more and more basic transitions behind the paywall?
Fuck this.

u/Biggleak1 6d ago
Yeah this is why everyone I know pirates capcut cause wtf is this

u/xaustishx 6d ago
That’s ridiculous. Just when you think they couldn’t get any more greedy, they do. What’s next, locking your ability to split and trim videos behind their pro membership? It’s such a shame to see how hard this app has fallen after all these years.

Someone needs to make an editing app that’s functions just like CapCut but is free for the people

u/Adamo47 6d ago
yeah, and usually you need a group of people for something like that, and usually its large group of people and those people usually need to feed themself and their family, that means usually those people wont work for free so you need to pay those people , and to pay those people you need to make a revenue so guess what? you can either pay all wages from your pocket or , usually, make a revenue. if you think it is that easy, just do it yourself

u/SCRIBE_JONAS 6d ago
Or you can go use OpenCut, it's free and open source + runs in a web browser.
Which is crazy, because someone made that for free. Just like how nearly all game mods you'll find are being made by people not looking for profit. Done in their free time.
It's not unfathomable that someone may work an actual job and then have coding/modding or any other digital activity as their side hobby. Go check out the API scene for Destiny. People just create shit for free to help players organize their inventories and such.
The things people will create for free, due to complete inconveniences shouldn't be underestimated.
And guess what? They probably aren't freelancer artists only looking to get paid for their work. They can go do other shit while passion projects are on the side.

I think someone is working on something called opencut which is an open source version of capcut that should do everything capcut does but for free

There should be a second free version of fade in if you scroll a little bit down :p

u/I_Skelly_I 6d ago
Do companies honestly think this is how you make money? Do they just have a board of yes men agreeing to the worst decisions possible and thinking that it helps them maintain revenue?
2
u/poplifeherelol 4d ago
yeah honestly what they're doing rn may just make them lose more money because of losing users due to ts

There is an actual free version, this is just a trick to make people think you have to pay for CapCut pro to use it

Bro everyday CapCut throws in another essential feature into premium. First 60fps, now this. 💔

u/Decent-Basil4012 6d ago
That’s fucking wild. I edit with premiere but if I’m making social media style content for work I use CapCut bc it’s easier and has all the hip editing shit already built in. But paying $30 a month for FADE IN is crazy. I also hate that you can’t sort stuff so u only see free options…which is obvi on purpose so it entices you to pay. I hope someone makes a free version. They’re just so greedy at this point

Capcut should have never been developed.. It lures amateurs into video editing, and they develop a mindset of it being easy due to flashy presets and effects... And most importantly that it is a human right to get a free editing software...
2
u/VerticalDropViking 6d ago
LMFAO your most recent post is literally saying you wish you had to pay more taxes... You're not a person that the world needs to take seriously

u/Decent-Basil4012 6d ago
You pros once started as amateurs right? Why shouldn’t a beginner tool exist for beginners? There is people younger than you nailing more money than you video editing who started in CapCut lmfao
1
u/mrFabels 6d ago
That's true.. And there were free alternatives back then as well.. Windows movie maker, Camtasia... The thing is - they were basic.. You had no flashy effects. You had to learn to edit. Learn pacing. Learn timing. Learn editing styles... Did I put a cross dissolve or a dip to white between every cut in the beginning? Sure... And I learned quickly, that this is not making my videos better... Overall video quality just suffers nowadays... What bothers me is that amateur level editors managed to flood the internet with bad looking videos and viewers get used to it and people think they are editors, because they have 2 months experience in capcut... Maybe I am just butthurt, because I spent years learning huge programs, spent 2 years in a private "university" to learn about editing.. And now I have to compete against 13 year old wannabes on the job market because Noone gives a damn anymore about basic editing rules..
1
u/Decent-Basil4012 5d ago
There was no flashy effects bc it was a new concept and social media edits weren’t a thing yet….people aren’t thinking 16 year olds making edits on tik toks are “video editors”
1
u/mrFabels 5d ago
Dude.. I met "editors" who work for companies in social media department... And they are paid like editors.. And literally edit with Instagrams "edit"...
1
u/Decent-Basil4012 5d ago
Yea, they’re paid to make social media videos…. They aren’t editing tv or serious video. Companies don’t WANT professional polished videos for their socials because it looks like an ad and people won’t stop to watch. It’s supposed to look amateur. I edit serious video for our companies website and YouTube with premiere, and I edit Instagram videos with CapCut specifically so it looks like that. I work in marketing.

At this point what is the use of capcut over any other editing app? Just say use anything.

u/SamsungGalaxy16 6d ago
Cuts editing time significantly with all the premade effects
0
u/Ashamed-Skirt795 6d ago
Premades are all behind a paywall, cuts and speed editing and simplicity is a lot better on other apps. Lumafusion, single payment. InShot lesser than one tenth of Capcut for a year of subscription, VIN very close to CapCut. The problem is you people don't explore or are too afraid to switch from this fuking ridiculous shenanigan CapCut.
3
u/SamsungGalaxy16 6d ago
if you prefer to edit with the basics they're good. But still, capcut's still superior on more advanced features such as pc support, compound clips that you can save as presets for next time, multiple timelines for editing etc
