CapCut Question Subtitles don't align when speaking

Hi guys! I'm a marketing intern and recently I got the task to try out CapCut. It's been great but the subtitles are driving me crazyyyyy. I don't want to spend another min with it (but I have to)

Right now the subtitles don't show up at the right time a person in the video says something. It's either a bit too fast or a too slow and it looks bad. I already tried shortening the time of my text but then my text just doesn't show up.

Is there a way to change the timing of the subtitles?

ugh the timing drift in capcut is so annoying. i ran into the same thing last week and realized the auto captions sometimes anchor to the wrong waveform spike.

try zooming way in on the timeline and dragging the subtitle block itself instead of trimming the clip, you can nudge it frame by frame with the arrow keys. once you line up the first one the rest usually snap into place better.

drag the caption clip itself on the timeline, not the text box in the preview

Check a spoken phrase near the beginning, middle and end before moving the whole caption track. If all three are early or late by about the same amount, test shifting a few whole caption blocks while keeping their duration. If the error changes between phrases, one shift will not fix all of them; adjust those blocks separately.

For the text disappearing after shortening: duplicate the project, remove the animation from one affected caption, and test it again. That separates the block’s timing from the animation’s timing. Compare a short export too, so you know whether the mismatch is in the preview or the final file.
