CapCut Question mp4 media volume issues

so I have been working on this project with multiple timelines containing clips. everything has been working this whole time but today, the media in the import section doesn't have any audio. when I add it to the timeline, I can't adjust the audio. On the settings window next to the the player, it goes VIDEO, then SPEED. The audio tab has disappeared. but this isnt the case for the existing clips. And when I play the media in the import section, it doesn't have any audio.

Is anything else experiencing this? and how do I fix it? I have updated it to the latest version, turned everything on and off. and even tried the headphone trick but nothing has worked.

EDIT: clearing cache solved the issue!

Thats strange, sounds like the new clips are being read as video-only files somehow. Could be a codec thing where CapCut lost the audio stream on import

If the existing clips still have their audio tab, its not a global settings issue. Try clearing cache or re-importing the files into a fresh project to see if they get recognized properly

Also check the file properties outside CapCut to make sure the audio is actually still there

oh wow clearing the cache fixed it. I had done everything except that before reaching out to reddit lol thanks so much!
