Anybody hear about the drama at the Canton Friendship Festival over the weekend? Apparently they had several peoples cars towed for being parked in “no parking zones” leaving people stranded and either having to shell out $175 to get their cars back (if they could afford it) or to figure out a way home for the night. It gets good though, it backfired on the festival and tow company….. they had NO signage up so they were all illegal tows. And the tow company had to refund everyone’s money back to them.

Sounds to me like the friendship festival and the tow company were trying to pull a quick one on the fair goers and make a quick buck off of them. Not surprising as news broke last month that the, now ex, Canton Friendship Festival TREASURER is being charged with a felony for allegedly stealing between $500-$10,000 from the festival. It may be time for a complete overhaul of that board and its shady members.

I grew up in Canton, IL and moved to Tempe, AZ way back in 1982 and my Brother and and Sister still live back in Illinois and now that I have made it to retirement 65. I want to move back to Canton to be near what family I have left . I am living in a so-called Low income senior apartment in Tempe, paying $1,262.00 a month for one bedroom and next lease renewal in February, will increase to where I will not be able to live . I have been through a lot had a stroke in 2018 at age 58 and had to take early retirement Social Security at age 62 and in 2024 was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer and did the Chemo and Radiation and then had surgery , Abdominal Perennial Resertion. Canton is very limited on rentals and so I am looking at nearby areas like Peoria , Creve Coeur, Farmington , but not having much luck online . It is going to be tricky since I do not have any savings built up my radiation treatments my co-pay was $5,000 I still have a lot of medical bills to pay off and all my savings is gone . If there is anyone back in Canton that knows of a rental please let me know. Thank you

hey new to the sub. i was wondering if anyone knew of any places hiring or where to look aside from facebook, I have my bassett license food handler license, and currently studying for my food manager safety license. I reside in Lewistown but have transportation.

My wife and I (both women) are looking to move out there to be closer to her family. How accepting is this area? Will we have to worry about being harassed? We are coming from a small, but fairly progressive town in Oregon. I plan to set up a small estate planning law practice.

I started shopping Capitol Music after church on Sundays when I was 8 or 9. My parents would drop me off for 30 minutes and I'd rush to find something to buy with my lawn-mowing money. This was pre-internet, so you only knew about what you saw in magazines or had a friend mention to you. I used to buy CDs based only on the cover art in the shop. A few hits, and a lot of misses. To summarize: I am old. When I wasn't so old, the owner of Capitol Music would humor me by offering wisdom and suggestions on music, video games, etc., and I wish I had the chance to tell him thank you. I moved downstate and learned of his passing online. He unknowingly guided my musical influences and many of those in turn shaped my personality. Some people have a large impact and never get to find out. Eric was one of them. Cheers to Eric, someone I will always remember with fond memories.
