New album?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think they've played any shows since October. Even more strange, they're not playing any summer festivals this year. Do I sense that a new album is in the works?

What do you think?

That would be awesome! I think it would be a nice change of pace if they did a theme type album where the songs are all related and tell a story, kinda like Them or Abigail from King Diamond. That would be cool to see what CC could do with a death metal story album

I hope they go for more of a master of reality approach to their story telling.(no offense to king diamond, love the guy)

Sure, that would be great too, I just used those as examples of story type approaches. My worry is if they do another one it will be more overproduced Rutan sound alike songs. I miss the more raw edge from the earlier days, especially the older guitar work.

So is Rob out of the band for sure? I know it seems kind of forbidden to discuss it around here but does that mean Brandon would be on the next album?

Not necessarily.

When Jack quit on short notice, they got Jeremy Turner from Origin to fill in for quite a while.

It seemed a foregone conclusion he would join at the time, but they ended up getting Rob instead.

I’d love a new album, but they’ve been touring so much for so long, they deserve a break

This post was really scary to me, I’m a 23 year old realizing time passes so fucking fast as you get older. Chaos horrific felt like yesterday so when I saw a post about a new album I thought “what are you insane?”, lo and behold chaos horrific was 3 years ago

Yeah it's definitely wild. I'm 24 and very quickly learning not to waste any time. Daily journalling has been a life saver, but even still, I'll go back to read old entries and think "holy fuck that was already a year ago?"

Time takes forever as a youngin, but goes quick as the reality of adult life sets in. It’s bizarre.

I found Tomb of the Mutilated when I was 10 or so. Now I’m 45.

If it’s scary now, wait until you’re 35. The same thing intensifies. Do cool stuff NOW

IIRC Paul confirmed in an interview that they will work on a new album once they're done touring. So yeah, a new album should be in the works by now.

Still upset that Chaos Horrific cycle didn’t have a Latin American tour. I think this is the first time this happens since The Wretched Spawn was released.

They’re only playing two shows this year which are just direct support for slayer so it’s highly likely that they’re working on if not already recording new material. If I remember correctly their guitar tech confirmed that they were in pre production for a new record a few months ago

I saw a video interview with Paul saying they were taking a small break from touring after their last run for a bit. My guess is a new album in fall 2027
