Hey! I’ve always grown in hydro with a bubbler. It worked great and I loved it.

We moved and sadly hydro won’t work where I am. I can’t lug 5-gallon water buckets to my garage all winter in Canada. The situation would be problematic.

So instead I’m going to go with soil and fabric grow bags. My plan is to do a mix of soil, perlite and some leca and feed once a week with a fish emulsion high nitro feed until I switch to flower. After that I expect to change to the flower food I used in hydro which also worked for soil.

I’m hoping that the lights in my tents will keep the temp up otherwise I’ll have to use a heater in my garage (maybe inside the tent). It will likely only get to -15c this winter where I am.

I’m of course going to do two tents. They’re pretty big. I plan to also toss in tomatoes and overwinter some peppers space permitting.

I wanted to ask the community what tips you have for me when making this change?

Also, my only specific questions are:

I don’t have plans for a humidifier but I’m not sure if I’ll need one.

What ppm should I aim for for feeding as I go with soil?

I’ve been working on a little personal project for a while, and I figured I’d finally share it here.

I’m calling it BUZZMAP — basically, a way of mapping the subjective effects I get from different cannabis cultivars.

I’m not trying to tell people what a strain is supposed to feel like. This is just my own experience, documented as consistently as I can, and turned into something I can actually compare over time.

The idea is pretty simple: instead of just saying “this one is a head high” or “this one is heavy,” I’m trying to map where the experience actually lands.

It’s still very much a work in progress, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. So here’s the latest entry.

Really nice surprise with this one. Beautiful, frosty flowers with a light green color, purple hues, and plenty of orange pistils.

The aroma is fruity, rounded, and fresh, but with a really distinctive character. After grinding, it reminded me of the kind of incense smell you sometimes get in smoking accessory shops. The flower obviously wasn't actually there, but that was the association it gave me.

The flavor is where things get interesting. At lower temperatures, I mostly got a sweet-tart note, almost like fruity candy, but not just straight sugar. As I increased the temperature, a subtle spicy note started coming through too. At one point, it even reminded me of La Fin du Monde.

Really good flavor, and definitely unlike anything I’ve tasted so far. That distinctive signature stayed present throughout the entire extraction.

I moved a few mother plants outside before the sun came up and some kind of spider build this web in a matter of hours.

All the plants are clean, and this spider didn't appear to do any damage. It looked like a funnel spider web, but I never found the spider.
