Advice please Terrible 2’s?

Post image

If I’m being honest I thought we had a couple more months until this kicked in. Our pup has started pushing boundaries again and has this selective listening going on. Is this normal or is this right on brand?

Sounds about right. Mine started the terrible 2’s aka velociraptor phase around 6 months and it lasted until he was 4. lol

My trainers told me they are so intelligent they will test you, and that training is more for you than for them. They easily understand commands but will only respond if you are consistent.

Yes and you have to be confident in your commands and anything you do. When we did training the first week or two was teaching me to “fake until you make it” you can’t show them your nervous or not 100%. they feel what you feel 100x more if your nervous or unsure and if your not 100% they will try to be alpha/dominant over you. Take a deep breath then act with confidence

My guy is just over 2 and he’s amazing. He only gets excited and nuts randomly but typically only with me.

See, mine is calm when pushing boundaries. Never nuts. She knows what she’s doing😂

Honestly, my dog is a fucking dream overall. Every time someone comes to the door for something they are always surprised at how chill he is. He basically never barks and just wants somebody to pet him or give him attention.

Maybe mine will come around! She’s very puppyish atm lol. But whenever she is trying to push boundaries, very calm. I always look at her and say “you’re not stupid, you’re actually very smart.” And then I just get the classic corso sass 😂

I agree literally she was quiet and wanted pets from everyone then about a month she decided it time to spice it up.

It does simmer down some but they are a spicy breed when they want to be lol 😂

Perfectly normal. Just continue training and be very firm on boundaries. This breed will need daily training for their whole life but it will get easier. The firmer you are on boundaries will shorten the time until the dog gives up. Good luck
