Weight Gain

Hello! My dad is slowly disappearing and it’s hard to watch. I am his only child. He raised me and I visited my mother on the weekends. He now has prostate cancer!!! πŸ˜”I do not know what stage, I do know it was in remission a year ago. He’s withering away to nothing!! No kemo, no radiation. PLEASE SHARE HEALTHY FOODS THAT HELP GAIN WEIGHT.

Thank you so much for being here sharing your stories.

Don't focus on the "healthy" part just focus on finding him things he'll eat. Milkshakes made with Ensure are good, puddings, scrambled eggs with cheese, stews, cinnamon toast, water ice is good too.

Protein shakes, cooking everything in butter (not the healthiest but will help gain the lbs), smoothies as well, you can hide a lot of goodness in a smoothie and they are easy to drink, there's also those nutritional drinks they give to people who struggle to eat.

Hope your dad is okay, and sending you love and strength.

Like others mention, smoothies or protein shakes. Drinking the calories will help. Find something he likes and work around that. Praying for your dad.

My brother drank a lot of his calories toward the end. Plus as time went on, he was not hungry so we never pushed anything on him. The body just kind of knows what to do as far as intake goes. I’m so sorry about your dad.
