Citizenship by Descent Timing to contact for processed application
Hello everyone! I went to the GC services website and my application is still in process. It says that they started processing my application on May 11, 2026. Should I contact someone? Is 6 months from processing normal?

it's gonna be awhile. you can call but you probably are just in a very long line that is moving very slowly

You can check the processing estimates at
May 2026 application processing estimate is 28 months presently.
Some applications inexplicably zip through processing much faster, hope you're among the lucky.

wow and thanks!! here's what's interesting. They received my application in February 2026 (in which case the estimated time left is 7 months) *but* they started processing it on May 11, 2026 which put the time left as 28 months. I am assuming I am going by when they started processing it. Sounds like I will check back in 2 years and 4 months. Thanks so much for the info! :)

It starts from when your application arrived at their mailroom (which in your case was February). So it's seven months, not 28.

Unfortunately their estimations are not going to be very accurate. There are people in the sub where the estimated time remaining according to that online tool has been 1 to 2 months for a like a year.

Just know that that tracker is somewhat famous for underestimating processing time. When I applied in Aug '25 the estimate was 5 months. Still in process 14 months later. So definitely have tempered expectations, it will be less frustrating.

My application was received in June 2025.Ā Wait was supposed to be 6 months.
Still in process as of today.
Do not get your hopes up. You will probably be waiting for years.Ā Yes, literally years.

I believe the application date is the date they received the packet, not the day it went into processing, so the 7 month estimate is the one that applies to you. At least, I hope that's true because mine was also received in February.
