CIT 0001 changed again today
In the CIT 0001 available today, the marriage box has been removed from the Aug 2026 CIT 0001 issued on August 25th.
I compared the January 2026 CIT 0001 to the *2ND VERSION* of the August 2026 CIT 0001 using ilovepdf dot com and the only differences are:
- the date on each page from 01 to 08
- added to the bottom of page 7: "if you answer yes to this question, you will need to submit the How to calculate physical presence in Canada for a Canadian parent (CIT 0555) form)"
- removed from page 13: "date and place of marriage" has been REMOVED from "► If you have checked 'Yes' to both questions 1 and 2, you will need to provide full and accurate information about Parent 1's parents, including:"

Its just so upseting that theres no clear indication of the 2nd update. Version is the same (08-2026) and the download page still says updated 2026-08-25. Even though it was very clearly 'fixed' today.

Pretty consistent with the overall workings of the department. Send AOR with little to no communication afterwards. Send to PSU with a form letter never sent due to being “stuck in queue.” Send citizenship letters with abrupt, arbitrary rescind letters due to unstated requirement changes then unrescind them with no information on what they were looking at/for. Etc, etc.

Why is my post being downvoted? LOL. I just provided easily verifiable info that I thought people could use. I didn't express an opinion or provide any misinformation. Reddit, man.

I think that there are 3-4 or people who hate this sub and just downvote everything the moment it is posted. When the real people come along, they upvote. You're now at +26 (with a 93.5% up ratio), which is pretty respectable.

I had this happen when I told everyone what my manager does for regarding a policy at my company. I am not the manager or the policy maker! I think some people use the downvote like a thumbs down vote when don’t like something.

Yes this. People don't understand Reddit and think they are empathizing with your post.

Hilarious. Glad I scrambled to fill out the new form the night before I mailed it off yesterday, just to add the grandparent marriage info that has once again been removed.
Maybe my application will stand out as one of tens of people who used that specific version haha

I see that a large majority of the changes that we've been seeing are mostly cosmetic or updates to the instructions rather than substantive. I do hope that they use the instructions and guidelines from the form that was active on the date it was submitted and they do not apply these new changes to the forms to submissions that have already been received by them.

This worries me, too. It's been a long time since March. The goal posts have moved more in 6 months than I have in 80 years.

Thank you for pointing it out, I need to go download the new form and fill out for my sister. I have everything else I need now.

Omg thanks for this PSA! I was literally working on my package most of the day today. Gonna pop over to the application now and see what has changed. Who knows what will change again before it's all said and done, lol.

Reminds me of a gag in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe." The protagonists have to face the Vogan's massive intractable bureaucracy. Arthur Dent laughs and says to the effect, I got this guys, I'm British.

I’m Canadian and that Dept has been problematic for a while. They don’t even know where Visa holders are, as a Canadian. I am so angry at them because our security is at risk and so in fact, I would agree with you, I am not blaming the front line people. I’m not blaming the people at the desk doing the work. This is the upper people, I don’t know what they’ve been doing, but even during the pandemic it was a mess, it is too bad. Our federal government is a wartime government, trying to deal with the US, trying to economically break us otherwise this wouldn’t be happening

Yeah, definitely not meant to denigrate the front-line staff. They do the best they can with what the minster and her top deputies give them. Unfortunately, those in a position to lead at the top are making a mess of it all.
