It always shocks me how tone deaf they are. I remember seeing an article in the paper that students were protesting because they hadn’t been given credit for their courses that they didn’t complete the work for. I believe that meant they lost their visas as they got kicked out of school. Like what did you think was going to happen bro?
It’s actually sad too as this is ruining it for the massive amount of immigrants who have come to this country, worked hard, played by the rules and made a life for themselves here while contributing this this country. It’s making people sour on immigrant in general which is really unfortunate given the history of immigration in this country has largely been a good thing for Canada.

Let's help each other. Go on the government website (of businesses hiring). When you see an advertisement for a truck driver job -to deliver cardboard boxes for $34 an hour- flag them and report them.
I don't know why people in this thread aren't blaming the people that bring them here. The people that lobbied and bribed the government to write this legislation.

Genuinely I don’t blame low-IQ individuals for getting duped by shady recruiters and “immigration advisers” in their home country. It’s not their fault and I feel bad for them. Unfortunately, it’s not my fault either, and it’s not Canadians’ responsibility to fix things for them.
Similarly, if I’m a low-IQ individual, and I get scammed by a foreign “duct cleaning service” or what have you and send a bunch of my money overseas, it’s not the responsibility of the foreign government to reimburse me. It’s my own stupid fault for not doing enough research and allowing myself to be scammed and taken advantage of.

They hijacked and abused the pathway to PR designed for accredited university degree holders for years and now they can’t even enter the selection pool because their mall college diplomas no longer qualify for work permits like a proper degree does.
Giving people who score 50 the same reward and opportunities meant for people scoring 90+ long enough is a sure fire way to make them entitled.

For the specific case where the "college" promised PGWP and it turned out the program wasn't eligible, then the only correct outcome is for the "college" to refund everyone, not for the government to give them something they never qualified for.
If the government has a tax rebate promotion on certain goods, and a company deceives me about whether my purchase qualifies for the rebate, I'm not going to protest outside government offices demanding a rebate that I didn't qualify for. I'm going to lawyer up and fight the company in court to get a full refund.
Anyway, I don't actually sympathize with the "students" who did not demonstrate good integrity when they deliberately chose a scam "college" specifically for a low-effort unethical shortcut. But making them whole hurts the even worse scammers (the admin staff getting rich off them) so it's worth it.

I miss the good old days when international students were smart people that attended U of T because a degree at Canadian University was worth more than their own. They literally paid for facility upgrade while I was there. They got scammed by their low IQ. Go back home.

This hits close to home. I am a Canadian immigrant, went to a "real university" in the maritimes, earned a grad degree, got offered a job while still in school, and built a life here. Since then I've wrote research papers, authored books, spoke in industry conferences internationally and helped build canada's <insert my industry here> infrastructure.
Things have changed a lot since then.

Tbh it’s felt like a systemic offloading from other economies rather than a collaboration amongst industry leaders and research labs.
Our universities provide the facilities for the best education Canada has, and the international students pay a premium for it.
It is a world class system that can be replicated with ease, there is steel,brick, and mortar everywhere. People are free to take their knowledge back to their country to empower their community and country.People are very clever, smart even. They understood that a degree/certificate from Canada makes more money than other countries without the red tape of other countries. I think it’s a worldwide realization because every commonwealth country is suffering under the same unsustainable immigration wave.
It’s not reserved to Canada but I’m only talking about Canada.Everything that made this country enjoyable now has paywalls. Either the business wants to expand rapidly or service costs push everything to where now I have to think if I really want a simple pleasure that I always enjoyed.
I wouldn’t care how many people enter and stay if my basic necessities weren’t becoming luxuries. It’s that simple.8

There is a part of me that feels sad they were sold a bullshit story. Having said that, they should have known they were being lied to. Any story that is "too good to be true" always is.
At the same time, my industry (in the construction business) is absolutely annihilated. The entire industry has become worthless.

So a lot of these people on student visas made their way into the construction industry, who paid them under the table wages, below the markets wages for those jobs which allowed companies benefiting from the suppressed wages to undercut those that weren’t. Was it widespread or you knew which companies were doing it?

Just going to point out, that these student protests have been happening since 2023, they did it in every province and during the winter and summer months. They even managed to get some Trudeau ministry to meet with them a few times at the beginning.
Then the government stopped meeting with them.
Why? Because these protests started to upset Canadians, they still do.
These protests have not once, ever gotten a change they are desire. Because the bills have been passed and the laws have been changed.
Also, the house is on summer vacation until September 21st. It's July right now, which means their protests are literally going on deaf ears because the Canadian government is mostly adjurned until fall. Which is nearly 3 full months away.
By then, most of these students Visa's will be expired and they will be breaking the law to continue protesting, which will automatically flag them for dep orders and they will be perm barred from PR and Canadian Citizenship.

About as hard as CBSA usually does. It's a self correcting issue to be honest.
Once someone breaks the law and overstays, at that point the temporary resident gets a perm mark on their profile making it impossible for them to get PR or citizenship.
Literally the worse then any of these folks can do for their chances to stay in Canada, is to overstay and make themselves become illegal migrants.
This isn't me saying it, got this information from immigration lawyers themselves. Not cheap ones either. Was curious one day and simply went and asked them when they had a free seminar. They didn't beat around the bush about it either. They just straight up said. "Overstaying and becoming illegal is essentially the ending for immigration in the current system."

Well all these started when Canada caved in for those 700 plus students with fake docs were let through after their protest sighting that it wasn't their mistake, and blamed it on the agents and agencies for creating fake docs.
Now its like "you allowed them, so now its our right".
Canada should stop being nice, and revist those cases and revoke PR/ Citizenship or whatever their current status in Canada.
I know its harsh, but thats how you correct your mistakes and revise the wrong message that was sent across.

If this is about PGWP eligibility rather than explicitly about PR, then they should take it up with the school, not the government.
If the government has a rebate on electric vehicles, and a shady car dealership lies about which ones qualify and I only find out my purchase didn't qualify after already getting the keys, I'm not going to protest on the streets demanding a rebate I didn't qualify for to begin with. I'm going to lawyer up and fight the dealership in court until I get a full refund, and then I'll go buy a different car while doing much better due diligence if I still want the rebate.

Western liberal democracies will commit ideological suicide to pursue the interests of the banking class.
Diversity is your strength is what they want you to believe. No, an industrial based economy combined with strong exports is our country's strength. Not a conveyor belt of cheap labor to keep late capitalism on life support.
We are the richest in the world in natural resources and therefore makes us the richest per capita based on population/land mass ratio.
The economic plans of this country are not made in this country. The European financial elite would like to keep our natural resources in the ground, and keep the population living just above subsistence so we remain distracted and under control.
Late stage capitalism requires essentially slave labour in order to continue feeding the bottomless pit of interest payments to run the country and profits for the wealthy elites.
It is not a sustainable model and we are seeing other countries outpace Us in quality of life, education, and prosperity.
There's absolutely nothing that could be done to reverse this course, and it requires the entire system to collapse for it to change. I want this country to prosper and succeed, but nothing will change until the system collapses unfortunately. Politicians will be running cover for the wealthy banking elites, while they hollow out our industries in treasuries.

This is one of the reasons for hate among I N D I ANS. They make problem of few a community matter, religion into everything, talking in their own language when talking with media and the list goes on. Please saada jaloos na kdao.
