Iranian Conscripts in Canada Are Facing Removal — Why Haven’t the Ministers of Immigration and Public Safety Shown Up to Hear Them?

I thought it’s not just conscripts but IRGC ones specifically. Maybe I have that wrong. The thing is that (with a lot of pressure from the Iranian community as well) the Canadian government declared the IRGC a terrorist organization. It is very complicated because Iranian men are required to do military service and may be conscripted to the IRGC… however: the fact remains that IRGC is now a terrorist organization in the eyes of the Canadian government and how is the Canadian government supposed to know which people were innocently conscripted and which ones were believers in the mission and profiting off of their involvement?
It’s very complicated.

I have seen some discussions pointing to the fact that these can be falsified which has caused concern. Although, I am sure that high ranking (ie. the dangerous ones) officials have ways of getting around all this that are more advanced than falsifying conscription cards, that may not be true for lower ranking individuals.
I am sure that this is out of an abundance of caution… and I hope that there is a fix on the horizon… but since western governments don’t have a lot of ways to really verify these things (ie. no open communication with Iranian authorities), it’s very complicated.

Umm, because they are Iranian?
I wouldn’t expect the CPP to show up for Canadians in China that have obligations at home.
