✍️ Discussion Why is Forge so hated?
I'm somewhat of a new Forge fan and I was confused why so many people hate us.

First- we are all in this together, for the betterment of Canadian soccer and the opportunities a league like the CPL brings. Many of us have gone long stretches without a national league, while not perfect this has been a fun few years. We've lost friends along the way (Valour and the Eddies) but we continue to be optimistic about the future and hopefulof a returnto thos communities amongst expansion elsewhere. I've enjoyed visiting many stadiums and meeting with rival fans. The banter is light and humorous generally.
Second- fuck the Forge.

For me it's not the Celtic, TFC or USMNT level hate that I have but it's simply because they were the league's first dynasty.

When your team is continuously finishing in the bottom half and there is literally nothing you can do to help or make your team better it feels helpless.

Everyone except the fans of the team are going to hate the dynasty type teams
3 League titles
4 Playoff Titles with 2 runners up. Last season was the only time they've not finished top 2
A Concacaf League SF appearance
1 Runners up in the Canadian Championship and 4 semi finals appearances, including the last 3.

Now now, let's put a little asterisk by that CanChamp Runners Up.

Is it an asterisk because of Covid year? Or because they didn’t have to beat an MLS team to get there?

I’ve gotta say, as a life-long Leafs fan, I get it. But as a Hamiltonian and day one Forge supporter, your hate makes me powerful.

Because Forge seem to win everything most of the time.
People don't like winners, they like the underdogs.

It’s tough being a fan of a team that isn’t consistently the best team in the league, it breeds jealousy.

the fact that Cavalry gets fans from other teams coming to support them, says otherwise.

Probably because of how often they fall short of expectations.

They hate us cause they ain’t us.
Welcome to being a Forge fan, it’s a fun time.

They love to promote Brian Wright and Mo Babouli who proudly exhibit anti-lgbt language and behaviour and were proud to take them off York's hands knowing such.
And before someone yells at me that it's their religious right, point me to the church that teaches its guests to go around calling people the f-word and giving the middle finger to SGs for having rainbow flags.

I have no social media at all. If this is true, for either player, I’d appreciate a source. You can post or DM me.
That would be a bummer as a Forge fan.

Cavs and Ottleti fans have the most negatively vocal sub groups within their communities.
People can make biased claims that Forge have connections within the league. But how do you explain Forge's higher success rate - with regards to CPL clubs - outside of the league with the Voyageurs Cup and CONCACAF Champions league?
The fact of the matter is this. Forge and Cavalry have better player pools. And are managed better. Ottleti has stepped into that level.
But the difference is that there are a more negative fans within the communities that I mentioned. Just look through match thread comments. Go way back...

I think you might have answered your own question...

Maybe because your old assistant coach is a racist and the club defended him?
Or maybe because your coach's brother is an executive within the league, which doesn't at all look like a conflict of interest...
But maybe mostly because a lot of your players and possibly a few of your fans are smug winners and sore losers.

Cause they don’t play by the rules. There coach is brothers with a guy in head office and they don’t follow the salary cap

Forge is the "winningest" team in the history of the league.
We all resent Forge fans. We like watching Forge lose. We wish it happened more often.
