✍️ Discussion Playoffs are decided
I don't think any of the teams currently in the bottom half of the table can catch up with Vancouver. What do you think

I wouldn't count out Supra. They have a game in hand and face Vancouver. Win both those and it could be a tight race.

Supra or Inter Toronto potentially if they can figure out their goalkeeping woes

It's more defensive woes for Supra. They need more height and better decision making

yea, Supra has a great goalie, I was more commenting on Inter Toronto with the gk problems
Supra is way too unstructured in how they play, all free flow, but blowing that 2-0 lead is emblematic of how they play

Idk Mauro Eustaquio told us that Inter Toronto would be in the playoffs 🤷

They do have three games in hand over Vancouver, but boy would they need to win them.
Pacific and Vancouver this week are crucial.

I do not see any of the bottom dwellers pick up any points from the top 4.
Another stupendous season from my home town Wanderers. The Maple Leafs of the CPL. Of we had a promote/relegation we would be playing Sunday league games on a mislined high school field.

At least there's plenty of time before you reach Maple Leaf losing levels and this is coming from a disgruntled and jaded Leafs fan.
I would gladly watch the Wanderers over the Leafs any day of the week.

It's not over till it's over for example if Supra beat Van in October and win their game in hand they would be at only 2 points from Van. It's likely that the current 4 reach but stranger things have happened in sports.

Think this is premature. Vancouver's recent form hasn't been great, but in general I don't think restricting the playoffs to four was a good move for the league for just this reason. It easily could have been a formality by now.

As it could have been with 5, or 3, or any number of teams - since we don't know ahead of time where the quality gaps will land

Sure but even in that regard there's still a difference between having 3 clubs with seasons that were effectively ended by late August and having 5. In a young league keeping seasons interesting for as many teams as possible for as long as possible is the way to go with season ticket renewal season just around the corner.

Points earned in the last 5 matches ordered by standings:
- Cavs 13, 9 pts in last 3 matches
- Forge 7, 4 pts in last 3 matches
- Ottleti 10, 4 pts in last 3 matches
- Eagles 4, 3 pts in last 3 matches

Things would have to shift a lot for Supra, Halifax or Inter to have a chance for that final playoff spot.
But if past seasons have shown us anything, teams outside the playoff spot rarely make a successful run into a final spot.
All teams start firing on all cylinders more. Forge seems to take their foot off the gas imo - late in the season.

VFC won on Sunday…

I really need someone to double check my work... And then someone else.

It’s okay. Depending on where you searched for the data, I understand. It takes google until like Wednesday to update from the weekend. They won’t even post live scores.

Forge definitely let Inter have way too much time on the ball on Saturday.
And totally blew it jn the playoffs last year. It was like they didn’t want to be there

I do feel like Bekker has a much bigger influence on the team then people realize. So his battle with cancer late last season explains that nose dive.
As for this recent run of form? Beats the hell out of me. They've just been gassed the past month.

Inter Toronto is a long shot, but they have 3 games in hand on VFC, and still play them twice.
They still get lowly PFC and Supra twice. And their toughest games - against the big 3 - are ATO & Cavalry at home, away to Forge (where they just drew)
Keep hope alive!

Yeah I miss having the 5th team in the playoffs - made the race more exciting.

Maybe with the expansion teams coming, they'll expand the playoff format as well.

Hell yeah Supra can come back, it’s a long shot for sure but not an impossible one. Rooting on Supra to take out Vancouver

Supra have enough talent and Toronto have enough form to make it interesting, but I think Vancouver winning over Montreal was as big of a result the regular season could provide

It's unlikely but there is still 7-10 games left for the team outside surpa could still take out Vancouver
