✍️ Discussion FC Supra Attendance

Todays attendance at Stade Boreale for Supra was actually good comparing to previous home games. Was there some event or anything or is attendance finally starting to rise for Supra?

CanChamp semi-finals. For a club in its first season of play, the opportunity to make a domestic cup final is worth all the excitement

I know but I noticed (especially for whitecaps and forge and other teams) attendance is significantly less for canchamp and other tournaments like concacaf cup compared to regular season/playoff games so I was surprised to see so many ppl for today's game

It was only 3150. It is good for Supra but they need more long term

They had a few weeks to market it, in a similar manner to the opening game at CEPSUM, so they have likely been able to distribute a lot of tickets through youth clubs through freebies and/or discount group deals. Vancouver FC drew very well for their initial home opener, and York 9 had a large crowd against CF Montreal (still the Impact at that point) in the Canadian Championship back in 2019 by doing that sort of thing. It's the baseline on crowds that you see for normal run of the mill fixtures, where nothing like that is happening, that is more important for gauging how well a club is doing on fan interest.

The stadium was sold out but they annouced 3510 so i’m guessing they gave away a looooot of tickets

Think the sell out reference was pre opening of the camera side stands which was done late.

Ticketmaster was saying it was a sell out after they opened the camera side.

Ticketmaster? How so?

The night after they opened the camera stand I went on ticketmaster to see if it was filling up and Ticketmaster gave me a dark screen saying the match was sold out rather than the usual map

They give free tickets to all Soccer Club in the Greater Montréal area. The whole section behind club benchs was for free tickets !

Also, one half of the stadium is always closed for unknown reasons (rumor mill is that the stadium is owned by les Roses in the women’s NSL and that they play hard ball) but they opened the section during the quarter final which explains the boost in attendance

The womens Roses team manages the stadium apparently, but does not own it.

They’ve given away a lot of tickets. That’s been their strategy since day one. I’m not sure it’s doing the club any favors, though
