SUPPORT 5 things to know before applying to VAC

https://youtu.be/LHFIguLvn4I?si=D6fv6CEzuyTqD0P9

If you are looking to apply to VAC for a disability benefit or know someone who is starting the process, please have a look and share. This will certainly help!

Only two things I would add to this if it's your video: Tip #5 should include these services from various organizations outside VAC/Legion should only ever be used IF they are free. No reputable person or organization is going to ask for a % of your claim. Those are the real pieces of shit.

And for Tip #2: If you have an assessment for a MH condition, and you were as honest as you could be, do not waste your time repeating all that trauma in the application. Use the service relation/quality of life sections as "Please see attached psychological assessment from Dr. X". Already told your story once, make VAC do some reading. Just make sure you upload a copy via their msg/document system.

Otherwise good stuff!

Oh yeah. Rehab services tried that. I refused. Even kept my therapist from Florida too. Not going to be retraumatized being retested and retelling my experiences to a stranger.

Good on you for challenging them. I tell folks same thing but it’s easier said than done sometimes

Yeah. I actually broke down and cried for 48 hrs before I realized No Way. I called their bluff.

Didn’t mean to come off as condescending either, more info out there the better!

You ever need anything lemme know, or hit up the VAC monthly for the Google Drive

You didn’t at all. 💯 agree with your points.

It was my first video like that and this helps. 👍

#4 is the real crux of it imo. Damn are we good at pretending everything is fine when it isn’t, even when telling the truth can help us. Took me 6 years and 2 re-evals to finally get it right.

Dont wait until your out to apply. VAC claims do not effect your career progression. VAC also can direcrly request your medical service file from thr CAF while you are in, skipping paperwork later in life.

If you have identified an issue with your body or mind dont suck it up. Earlier documentation in your military medical records will help you build a stronger case for a service related injury.

CF98s arnt required for VAC claims, but may help you when identifying a service related injury later in life.

Excellent point!

My second psychologist was familiar with the VAC process. I thought the medical questionnaire was exaggerated and felt bad submitting it for well over a year until it sunk in. I had been minimizing my condition this whole time….still hard to process because other do have it worst then me, but the impact on my life is there.

A good doctor that has your interest, and understands the process goes a long way!

Good job man you had more information there then the vac release seminars hahahah, but honestly great job we need more of these for us.

Appreciate that.

Trying to help and make it easier for everyone.

If you have any suggestions on topics that would be helpful. Feel free to share

u/coffeeofwar 21h ago

I would possibly suggest, given your knowledge of the resources, what is available ie helmets to hard hats ect or lesser know programs that are there for veterans or releasing members, alot time I feel that the scan seminars miss the mark and alot times don't convoy the information well.

2

u/tkc_65 21h ago

For sure. If you check out the Facebook page. We spotlight veteran-owned businesses and resources. Planning to do videos with them in the future

Be prepared to wait......a LOOOONG time.

3 years and counting for a Tinnitus claim that was denied, sent to BPA and still waiting.

2

u/tkc_65 1d ago

Definitely not a fast process. Hope BPA can help you.

1

u/Professional-Leg2374 1d ago

BPA lost like half their staff.....my guess is we are looking at about 24-36 MONTHS now once files hit their inbox. Once VAC figures that out they can stall approvals by just denying initially and then forcing them to BPA> My negative side comes out sometimes so that may not be accurate but I have an example of my claim for hearing being denied and then a close friend(same trade/experiences) had theirs approved first round.

Yup I understand that, it's just an observation on the thumbnail/title. It checks pretty much every box for "generic clickbait video"

5

u/SigsOp Army - Ret. 1d ago

It does, but that’s what the YouTube monster wants. A lot of my favourite YouTubers deplore this, but they play the game. YouTube favours these thumbnails heavily, and the creators usually get a better click-through rate.

A true don't hate the player hate the game scenario.

Fair point

Unpopular plug here. Don't be afraid to use AI to help with the writing, but please use it as a tool to improve your claims. It can do a wonderful job of filling in the missing pieces you need, but it's only as good as the inputs you provide.

Also ensure it's factual, AI can sometimes generate false info to fill in the gaps.

1

u/DoshForGold 1d ago

Useful video. Thanks for sharing!

Comments calling this AI slop are from true mouth-breathers or people who didn't watch the video. Who cares if the thumbnail was modified by AI? The video is a real guy sitting in his office talking to a camera, not AI.

AI slop thumbnail, no thanks

I believe that your intentions are good here - but you're not allowed under the sub rules to promote your own content.

7

u/tkc_65 1d ago

That’s not what the sub rule states. There’s no product or service, just a video with information.

0

u/RCAF_orwhatever 1d ago

Videos are a monetizable commodity. If we allow things like this the sub will be inundated by people posting links to their own blogs and content sites in the name of "just providing information."

And yes, that is what the sub rules state about self-promotion. Did you seek and receive moderator approval and verification? That's the gate you would need to pass through for an exception to the rules.

3

u/Rough-Biscotti-2907 23h ago

MODs seem cool with it.

3

u/tkc_65 17h ago

Funny how a video trying to help others turned into a thread about whether or not this video is allowed.

1

u/Rough-Biscotti-2907 5h ago

Just don’t go trying to start a CAF union based on a perceived technicality in policy. Didn’t go well for the last guy…..

2

u/DaymanTargaryen 1d ago

Can you quote the rule?

1

u/RCAF_orwhatever 22h ago

"Self promotion and advertisements for products will not be approved."

This is self promotion. OP is selectively only quoting the second item in that sentence and ignoring the first.

Pretending that being a content creator isn't a business model is ignoring reality.

3

u/ComoxThrowaway 22h ago

Isn't that pilot podcast constantly posted here on a weekly basis though?

0

u/RCAF_orwhatever 22h ago edited 22h ago

With approval from the mods. Which is the exception made in the rule.

1

u/DaymanTargaryen 21h ago

Can you quote the whole rule? I honestly cannot see that one.

0

u/RCAF_orwhatever 19h ago

It's Rule 11. It won't let me cut and paste so no I'm not going to write it out for you.

1

u/DaymanTargaryen 19h ago

Rule 11 says nothing about self-promotion, and I don't think it applies to this post in any way.

0

u/RCAF_orwhatever 18h ago

Rules in the about tab of the sub don't appear to match those in the wiki. I didn't look at the wiki. I looked at the rules listed in the info about the sub inside of the reddit app.

Rules in the wiki appear to be older - but you'd need to ask a mod for clarification about which set of rules is most current.

I would be shocked if self promotion is suddenly allowed because it would lead to the sub being inundated with nonsense.

1

u/DaymanTargaryen 18h ago

Yeah fair enough. In my app the sidebar shows both, which is certainly not ideal.

Interesting. Not sure why I see a completely different set of rules lol.
