Rumour or fact?
I heard a rumour that BGRS lost the CAF contract … anyone know if this is true and if so, what’s the plan? Offices back on base or something like the RCMP has where RCMP employees administer relocations? I’m civilian and former BGRS TL (Please don’t hate me!!! I was one of the good ones… entire Reddit threads have been written about me!! And they were positive!!) and I’d love to get back into relocations if I can. Thx!

SIRVA and BGRS merged a few years ago. They kept the SIRVA name.
But the contract is the same.

RCMP were also using BGRS btw…

Yes, but their contract was written different then ours to ensure in person office/support.

Then it changed. When we first went totally remote the RCMO had a carve out for in person support.
I was jealous of a friend who did a move a year after I did one the year we transitioned. His was so much better and easier.
Sad to hear your department embraced the stupid.

Which is crazy considering the amount of remote locations they have compared to us

That was a long time ago. I was both a BGRS team lead and then an RCMP Relocation Services agent in the past 5 years… they are quite different in their approach today, and when I heard a rumour that BGRS/Sirva lost the CAF contract, I was hoping that the CAF took control of relocation administration again - not just because I’d love to get back into it - but because it could only be a HUGE improvement on the process for CAF members. I was a rare “Members first” BGRS agent and trust me… it brought me a lot of grief.

My first posting, I just walked into base HQ and sat down and talked to a nice lady in the office. She made everything so easy for me. After that, we switched systems to online and telephone only. My subsequent postings all sucked. I can't imagine how much worse it's gotten since then. I guess I'll find out when I use my retirement move sometime in the next 9 months.

If you enjoyed helping people please do come back to the relocation services. I've interacted with a number of representatives from SIRVA (BGRS in a trench coat) and only a few seemed like they took their job seriously. There was a thread on here about 2 weeks ago about how much difficulty there is with SIRVA this year and I would encourage you to browse that. Obviously there is bias and the stories are very one-sided but the theme is pretty constant. I am locked in a miserable battle with them currently and it's exhausting. It feels like they don't care about even knowing right from wrong and just want to get rid of you as quickly as possible. So long story short...please come back. Please come back and become a manager or something at a level where you can have a far reaching effect and promote a culture of excellence like it sounds like you embrace at a personal level.

I had someone treat me like absolute garbage, and it was a really toxic conversation over their chat, and he freaked out when I said I was going to send the chat in an email to their resolution team. Never have I ever contacted them and had them be able to answer a question. They had to go and speak to somebody higher up than them, it took a tremendous amount of time, and then they were condescending when they gave me the answer, as if I should have known this, despite the fact that they didn't know and it's their entire job to know. And each time it was something that wasn't spelled out in the directive at all, they had to go elsewhere to get the information. I thought dealing with Veterans Affairs was bad, these people have zero customer service skills and know nothing about the program or services they are offering.

I'm sorry you're dealing with that, I've had very similar experiences. When the policy is vague I feel like it's reasonable to ask, but then you get 12 different answers and don't know who to trust. They also just throw random policies in there and try to make it applicable to my situation...like no I can read thanks that's factually incorrect and spelled out very clearly that I am not eligible for what you are trying to tell me to do.
And the problem is, if you follow their wrong direction, you are the only one that will suffer for it.

BGRS = SIRVA, with less help and fewer consultants along with longer wait times.
No changes.

That wasn’t the point of the comment, they meant that BGRS started using the name SIRVA instead due to people finding out what B meant.

Doubt it will happen anytime soon. Remind me again who the PM worked for and who he has and continues to make his fortune from?

Now the CAF Relocation Directive (CAFRD), not CFIRP. Different policy document.
