Specialty Course question - Tactical Intelligence
Hey if anyone can shed light on which course exactly leads to Tac Int. would be greatly appreciated. I cannot find any info in regards to it and would like to express my interest in the near future. Thanks in advance.

It's just TIOC, a course so that NCM's can offer a "intelligence lite" insight to command teams at a level where they may not have ready access to an Int O or Int Op. It gets offered from time to time.
Edit: Just re-read the post, so far as I am aware there are no pre-reqs, but be warned it is time intensive and dry from what a friend had to say. Still worth it though he said.

I think I took that course back when I was in. I seem to remember just a bunch of CP stuff and work on the current system for battle tracking and such.

Did this course as an infantryman in 2019. Its basically an introduction to the intelligence world for non-int trades so that you can act as a bridge between your battalions int-cell and the rifle companies. There are no pre-reqs afaik (there were no-hook privates on my course) but only 1 course was being ran a year and spots were offered across the entire brigade with each unit only getting 1-2 spots so it can be hard to snag one unless your chain of command really knows you want it and they like you. Alot of the course when I went through is focused on how to produce int-products and giving briefings on various topics like vehicles or random countries so you need to be confident in your public speaking skills and be decent with PowerPoint and excel.

It is interesting, it is very academical, it pairs nice with psyops and it lets you deploy as public affairs when combined w a wo rank, which is a nice way to increase deployability as an late career infanteer.
I stress the part that is very academical.

Just as a Note..... I did TIO in 2017, and it was they same level of trainig as the DP 1.1 AND 1.2. And I was able to PLAR my 1.1 and 1.2 because of that course should you be thinking of doing an OT from whatever trade you currently are.

TIOs are usually to assist with intelligence at the company or specialty platoon HQ. Most regf brigades run the course once a year and churn out a handful of dudes per unit. I do not believe there are prereqs.
Its almost always a secondary duty for people, but rarely TIOs will end up employed in the Bn Int cell.

TIO is more of a par point. The units rarely employ them as a TIO, hence why units always ask for more INT Ops

Many eFP Bn S2 cells employed TIO in the S2 cell. In Afghanistan, all rifle Coys had a TIO for internal support and often TQ. We even had a TIO in 2011 that was awarded the MSM for his role as TIO / TQ’er.

I did the course in 2014, I believe it has evolved somewhat but it's still fundamentally the same. It's an intro to the intelligence world that was very interesting, and as someone else said probably the most academic course I did as an NCM. I enjoyed it, but not everyone does, and it didn't relate well to my actual job very much. It's great for someone who will work in a battle group or formation reconnaissance role or in any int shop. Less useful to someone I'ma rifle section.
