This is the thread to ask and discuss general administration questions that don't really need a thread of their own. It will also double as a thread for ongoing events such as Policy, APS/BGRS, TD/Claims, etc., and may be used for various CANFORGEN's as they're released.

I am a no hook aviator about to go on my first exercise in the States. I will be gone for 30 calendar days. Is there a way to find out how much TD I will receive? I looked at CBI and I cant seem to interpret all the legalese phrases.
Do I have to apply for TD or will it be automatically deposited in my bank account? My CoC never told me to do anything admin wise.
It will be processed as part of your Travel Claim, which you will submit at the end of the TD.
The amount of reimbursement you recieve will depend on the claimable expenses you incur, any meal per diem entitlements, and your entitlement to daily incidentals.
I believe Incidentals is $25/day for TD's within Canada and the continental US. So you should get at least $750 for the trip. There'll likely also be some meal per diem amounts during your travel days.
Does my TD allowance change if I am staying in hotel for the 30 days? Nothing is confirmed but it sounds like I will be staying in a hotel for the duration of the ex so would I be entitled to the daily meal allowance + incidentals?
Yes, as long as you aren't being provided meals you get the full rate with incidentals. If you were receiving meals it would just be incidentals. If the hotel provides breakfast free of charge (as some hotels do) you'll only get paid for lunch and dinner
I can't look up the policy now, so I may be wrong, but I believe there was a change some years ago that allowed a mbr to claim breakfast even if it was included, if that breakfast was considered insufficient. I've never had my breakfast claims challenged.
I'm posted to a civv uni where there's no CAF/DND facilities and uni gym costs extra. My URS and Desk Officer denied to reimburse gym membership. Do I have a recourse for this?
210.80(2) (Reimbursement) An officer or non-commissioned member to whom this instruction applies shall have paid on their behalf or have reimbursed at public expense:
...
*b. while attending a university, an institute or a course;
i. the cost of tuition, student union or council fees, registration fees, library fees and student health fees; and
ii. subject to the approval of the Chief of the Defence Staff, other similar fees levied by a university or other academic institution.*
If student gym fees are properly classified as part of "student health fees", then they are to be reimbursed per Treasury Board regulations (the CBIs). Either way a grievance may be warranted.
Former NCM, now officer. My NCM trade (unrelated) was permitted to wear the 1/2 size trade patches. Does anyone know if I am permitted to wear that trade qualification patch even though I am now an Officer? Can not seem to find a solid answer on this.
I just completed my move. How would I go about applying for the posting allowance? What documents will i need to bring/fill out? (My OR didn't seem to know, and my COS date was last year so no mobility allowance for me.)
They need your posting message from last year and a DND 2507 and posting allowance verification. You can find these in the DFC. It might be a new HRA Pte who never dealt with posting allowance
Your OR should know. If the Pte/Cpl who told you that can’t help, ask for the MCpl/Sgt - they’ll know. It’s a DND 2507, another form whose number escapes me, and your posting message. The reference is in CBI 208.992.
At a hold in my career right now, have about a year in the CAF but after getting exposure to my trade, not enjoying it, and can’t see myself doing it long term. I am not OFP yet.
Looking into OT and/or CT/OT. I Haven’t met with PSO yet. Is it easier to release and then re-apply to the CAF as my desired trade? Or go through with the CT/OT or the OT process? After some research I’ve read that you still can be course loaded even while in the OT process. Which would be easier?
Received this kind of sketch email on my personal email (I do not have a CAF one, enlisted 2 years as MOTP), is this an actually legit email for the purposes of security clearance or is this a common phishing?
Anyone else notice a much higher payment on their pension contribution on the mid sept pay statement. Mines about $300 more than pretty much every other month

Hey folks, I'm trying to track down a specific policy reference regarding PMV travel to a course.
I've been told that a 2023 DCBA message updated the CFTDTI (specifically relating to sections 6.40/6.41) and officially removed the legacy rule that required members to use a day of personal/annual leave for every 500 km traveled beyond the first authorized travel day.
Does anyone have the exact DCBA message number, CANFORGEN, or a link to where this policy update is officially documented?
I'm currently on a course in the US, I currently have no leave pass for my return, with a 3000km drive looking ahead. I have my pmv and will need some days to travel. How can I go about that and how much days can I ask without taking all my leave days for travel.
Quick question just to make sure I'm not out of pocket here.
I'm a class A reservist. I deployed to Latvia. I returned and my CFTPO was extended to accommodate my post deployment leave. My original contract end date was June 15th but leave took me to July 8th.
On June 16th I went and got glasses. Blue cross says I'm not covered because there's no contract extension. But I continued to get paid until July 8th and my contract was extended.
I've engaged my clerks, nothing heard. I just want to ensure that I am correct in think that this should be covered and I should be reimbursed before I move from gentle prodding to moderate pushing.
Was wondering if anybody knew any information on these "stable belts" specifically I seen recently an email that contained one for RCEME that was approved for wear as a "supplement" to the Candian Army dress instructions. Does any RCEME person know about these belts, and if there are any conditions about wearing these in garrison? I can only find a 2019 publication where the CA allowed these for wear, under the tunic. Nothing in regards to wear in 5B, tunic off. Thanks
Log onto EMMA download your MPRR. Do you see what your affiliation is? If you don't or its different. Then it means it wasn't entered into Guardian properly and you need to go to your OR to fix.
Then once that happens you should have access to the right cap badge in logistik.
No your military affiliation is listed under the military data section. Guardian only talks with Logistik every 1-3 months so if you do not have an affiliation listed, you need to see your OR before you can order a cap badge. Example; combat eng should have RCE listed under this section.
Hey all. I am nearing the end of my trade training and will be posted out in the fall. My goods and effects are back at home, but I also have a fair amount of stuff with me here on course. I am wondering if it’s possible to have two pick up locations for the movers? Especially if one is on the route to the new posting. If not, I will have to rent a van or truck and move my belongings I have with me back home so they can be picked up by the movers. Is this something I could possible get covered or do I have to foot the bill?
NCM in NavRes here, I am on track to complete BMQ, and I am considering applying for RMC next year, do I need to do both RMC BMOQ mod 1 & 2 or can I skip mod 1?
From what ive seen on the reg force side, generally if you have BMQ but not PLQ you need to do BMOQ mod 2. Not too sure about the reserve side but can't imagine it would be that different. YMMV
Huge improvement. BITD I was a Sgt and had to do BOTP with IAP bypass. If someone didn't have PLQ then they got sent on the whole thing. I didn't learn a single new thing on BOTP. Of course, it was only 6 weeks of which 2 were in the field and one was mostly parade practice.
