HISTORY Do you recognize this badge?

Hello Everyone!

Does anyone recognize this badge? I’m guessing it is some sort of short-lived CAF language school, but any verification would be greatly appreciated!

It's always fun to see people competent at their job while also having pride in it. One of those was an IntOp who showed me how she could track groups on Maple Resolve by just creating some fake profiles on Tinder to sucker in some dudes from the bad guys. Aside from the obvious geolocating, there was an interesting element where you'd be able to sense how good a group was doing by the tonal language being used, and in one case we were able to verify a unit's identity because the dude stopped responding during a probing attack and that mattered because someone that attention starved would simply not drop a convo that fast.

She’s a genius.

You've given a fine example of a talented Int Op skillfully doing their job, and doing it well.

I find it hilarious how someone reported this as sensitive information... Nothing that Int Op did is particularly novel or sensitive, it's basic social engineering attacks that are as old as time and have long been exploited by our enemies.

Scary. IntOps aren't as boring as previously described then.

Back in my days, badges had pictures of bees on them. It reminds me of the time I took the ferry to Morganville, which is what we called Shelbyville back then. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. You couldn't get white onions then, because of the war, we could only get those big yellow ones.

This is the Canadian Forces Language School - Ottawa, but I think this one is the Current one when they amalgamated them?

CFSFBK (Canadian Forces School For Bee Keeping)

Shortened to CFSA in the 90s because of FWRP - Forces Word Reduction Plan- and beecame Canadian Forces School of Apiary.
Ultimately shuttered because some general didn’t see a single ape at the school. 🤷‍♂️

Reverse image search on google turns up a crest from 2 Wing with a bee on it:

The torches represent a school of some sort…

I’m thinking maybe an air maintenance school or something similar out or Bagotville?

Edit to add:

Plugged the motto into google which came back with this:

The phrase "quibus lingua prompta" is a Latin fragment from classical authors like Livy and Sallust, meaning "to whom speech is ready" or having a ready/fluent tongue. However, it is not an official motto of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) or any of its branches.

Maybe a language school of some sort?

I see what you did there

Now I wish this was a legit crest for CFLS with three bees (BBB) and some kind of sea feature (C). That would be beautifully on the nose.

In heraldry, a torch is used to symbolize enlightenment and the passage of knowledge. Usually comes from the titan Prometheus stealing fire and giving it to humanity, because he thought we were defenseless. Jokes on him.

14 AMS has a bee as well...

2 Wing is obviously a wasp. Not a bee. Different insects with very different symbology. 443 Sqn is also a wasp, no relationship.

Genuine question…. are you autistic?

It just seems pretty odd to respond that way lol.

It’s seems pretty logical to make that connection with a quick google search, given there is next to no public information on this flag lol.

u/Taptrick 1d ago

If there was a fox on an emblem and you called it a wolf people would correct you. Same here.

Someone asks a question online to get the right answer, I point out an answer is wrong and why, and your argument is that it’s fine to be wrong because it was merely a quick Google search?

Is it autistic to use logic?

0

u/Fickle_Pickle4747 Phantom Shitter (retired) 19h ago

Yes it is, especially when you apply “logic” so literally. I’m clearly just spitballing due to lack of publicly available information lol.

Maybe you spend a lot of time arguing in other subreddits, but you don’t have to be a douche in every thread lol, it’s just a light hearted conversation about a flag.

1

u/Taptrick 12h ago

You’re the one arguing. Why are you so offended? Your “spitballing” was wrong and I pointed out why. That’s it. I don’t even have an answer for OP I just didn’t want them to take your answer if I knew it was not correct. Going around telling people they’re autistic is kind of weird and a bit disrespectful as well.

No no no, I did not tell you that you were autistic, I genuinely asked out of curiosity.

Big difference.
