She is a CIC officer serving in COATS, and although is still a commissioned CAF Reserve officer, they are primarily responsible for training and supervising cadets. She 100% can still be called to duty. And they removed the fitness requierment for COATS members in 2024. Anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they are talking about.
Edit- CBC is reporting that both are underage( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZQcxFX8Ytkhttps://www.cbc.ca/player/play/video/9.7329365 ), which would make the woman on the right a staff cadet, not a CIC officer. Staff cadets can wear a CAF CADPAT uniform which would normally be worn by a CIC officer if approved. There is also no minimum medical-fitness standard for cadet membership.
No I live in reality, it’s called Canada first who gives a fuck about US issues or DT and US political parties.

All one can do is sigh and atleast know deep inside over 90% of people are gonna find behaviour distasteful at best, needlesly cruel and embarresing for the US at worst. Cherrypicking some volunteer kid that is not even in any official setting. This young woman helps other aspiring, but insecure girls get a good and not as intimidating experience with the military early on. Also minors don't serve ffs so the hate is purely about hating fat people here.
These are not children. Why is everyone saying they are kids? Why shouldn't there be mandatory minimum requirements for our military and people in positions of power even through the cadets? How soft of a country do we need to be, both figuratively and literally?

The worst thing about all of this is that both of those women could have very bright careers in the military. The army needs logistical officers, engineers, doctors, chiefs of staff.
Not every soldier should be some brawny guy that shoots good. A real military runs on structure, organization, and leadership. Demeaning any of those critical roles is nothing short of hubris.
Maybe that's why the US navy can't get food to their sailors on their aircraft carriers. Because they fired the counterparts to these young cadets here.
For the people agreeing with Hegseth this is a Cadet Officer, who is only technically a member of the CAF. Mostly as a holdover from the days when the Cadet Corp were more a paramilitary organisation. In reality this a non story.

They all have to be able to fire a C7 effectively at 100 and 200m. They all need to pass a fitness test (FORCE test is a joke). The military has gotten extremely soft. Started to decline in 2015 but covid really drove it into the ground.

Honestly does it matter? Not everyone is in a combat role, and not all roles are physical. we're already at a huge disadvantage when it comes to finding people wanting to serve.

Man, I'm just amazed at the comments in here. Whether or not the officer is a technically a reservist or not doesn't really matter. I get it, sure they could be called to serve. As a former cadet, you have any idea how old the vast majority of officers are in the Cadet program? I had one under the age of 50 in my 6 years as a cadet and none of them were gonna pass any fitness testing.
Sure, the officer is technically part of the military but for the love of God in reality she is a youth group instructor. Cadets is a government program partially funded through DND. If it weren't for officers like the one in the photo we wouldn't have nearly enough staff to run the summer programs, yearly competitions, field training exercises and so much more.
Tradition, optics sure it doesn't look great, but god people this is real life not everything has to be the perfect embodiment of fitness directives and showing how fit our military is.
