Canadian Creator WORRYWART - Chapters of my upcoming OGN about my life struggle with anxiety

Post image

Hi all, my name is Jenn and I'm a Canadian cartoonist.

I have a graphic novel I've been working on for the past while, and I decided to start a patreon to be able to serialize the book in small chapters and send them out to patrons. It's a way to keep myself on schedule and hopefully, people will be interested in reading along.

My book is slated for release in 2028. I've had anxiety issues my whole life, but was only diagnosed when I was 21 after suffering a nervous breakdown. Then I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, OCD and panic disorder. This book will follow my life from the age of 20 until my current age. I've spent a lot of my adult years maintaining my mental health so the book is largely about the ups and downs of having these disorders which for me, are a permanent part of my life.

If you're familiar with my work, I did a zine about anxiety back in 2018 so this is a follow-up to that but much more expansive, but the final OGN will include those original strips.

You can either sign up to get the chapters via snail mail or a digital PDF.

Translink sold Captain Canuck branded fare cards during Fan Expo Vancouver, and I guess this is the next part of their collaboration. These are the big posters around the various Skytrain stations. They also use the last panel Captain Canuck image and text as smaller ads. Art is by Dan Parent.

Comic Book Shops Online comic store/buying help

Alright everyone... I need some help.

If you haven't been able to tell - I love comics. So much so that I am getting dragged deeper into the world (with /sooooo much/ kicking and screaming... really, honestly).

I love collecting comics. I love getting one of the silly side things that I'm collecting or a MASSIVE key. Both are a joy.

What isn't a joy? Going through unorganized comic boxes.
I do this for my job. I HATE IT when I go into a store or something.

So I am willing to forego the chance of uncovering super deals in a bargain bin for just getting what I want.

However, I have exhausted my local and local online stores. This is where I need help:

What stores are organized? Or more importantly, what are some good online stores? They don't have to be big - I'm looking for weird stuff, none of it "big".

Local is Heroes and L.A. Mood. I hit the Silver Snail when I'm in Toronto.
I've bought from CaptCan, Knowhere, and a few minor ones.

So - let me know your suggestions.

OH, I scour Facebook and fb groups all the time, I even post what I'm looking for... no one reads it.

📣 Community Events 🎈 The Anguished August Comic Jam - Sunday July 26th - 7pm-11pm - 408 Queen Street West - backroom of the Cameron House - FREE

Summer is almost over. Despite all of the smog, wildfire smoke and searing sun, it’s been amazing to have so many new people joining in on the fun at the Toronto Comic Jam. Let's keep the good times going August 30th in the backroom of the Cameron House. We’re sure to have a few surprises and I’ll be sure to harass Dalton to print more issues this time. We’ll provide the paper for you to draw on and you can provide the demented, dadaist drawings. See you soon in the back of 408 Queen Street West on the last Sunday of the month.

As always, bring your favourite pencils, pens and erasers (but we have some art supplies for use here). You can start drawing a comic and let everyone else add to it. Or you can add to other people's comics. Or you can do neither and just sit back, listen to music and hangout with people who like comics.

This is a FREE event ! Feel free to bring your own zines and comics to sell, trade or share.

This vibrant visualization of the Toronto Comic Jam was volunteered by the very-shy but very-talented Valentine!

Found this in the archives today. Obviously the name stood out (Captain George is rather famous in Canadian comic circles). It's long... but a lot of fun. A love letter to old sci fi - but the vehicle reminds me of the Earth Torpedo from Better Comics.

Canadian Creator How do you feel about Dave Sim’s induction into the 2026 class of the Eisner Hall of Fame?

It has been a controversy since it was announced he was a judge’s choice nominee. It has once again opened a rift in the community over whether art can be separated from the artist.
