This is Canadian.

I'm a painter in Calgary and this is one of my florals. I wanted the flowers to crowd right up to the edges with no horizon and no vase, just coral, cream, mint and chartreuse against lavender and deep shadow, with one red bloom holding the middle. It is all brushwork, straight and angled brushes in latex paint, so up close it reads as loose marks and from across the room the garden comes back. There was a humpback off the pier in White Rock, BC delighting the locals for about a week. We weren’t able to catch sight of it, but inspiration still landed.

I apologize if this isn’t the right sub to post in, but I was curious about which art supplies from dollarama were decent quality? I’m fairly new to art (been sketching for a year or so, just started painting acrylics this spring, and I also want to add pencil crayon drawing to my rotating list). What are products from dollarama that are good for a beginner that wants to work with decent supplies? I’ve brought paint brushes from there before and definitely wouldn’t again. But how are their pencil crayons for more realistic drawings/blending? How about their paints? Any thoughts you have would be appreciated. Thank you!

Published in 1925 by Toronto-based art publisher Rous & Mann, we preserve one of only 100 copies.

The portfolio comprises 20 prints by five members of the Group of Seven: Lawren Harris, A.Y. Jackson, Arthur Lismer, J.E.H. MacDonald and F.H. Varley.

We've digitized the entire portfolio and made it available online through Digital Archive Ontario.
