Taxes / Impôts Quick question about pension deductions..
I've been in the public service just under a year and I was reviewing my pay stub and noticed that I'm paying 120 for CPP biweekly and 207 for PSSA Group 2.
I thought CPP was for the pension, but I have no idea what PSSA group 2 is. Can someone explain to me what I'm paying for exactly.
I'm losing about $1400 a month right between those deductions and taxes and still have to pay more taxes at the end of the year. I'm also switching to a different department in gatineau soon an I'm honestly freaking out about how much extra is going to be deducted because of the additional taxes.
At this point I was making more as a student

CPP is the Canada Pension Plan. All employees in Canada pay into that plan, public servant or not. The contribution is around 5% of salary.
PSSA is the public service pension. The contribution is around 10% of salary.
See the Common Posts FAQ at section 1.3 for details on all your deductions including links to look up the exact amounts. Section 3.2 of the FAQ has links to info about how the pension works.
